Brookstone HDMI Pocket Projector Vs 3M Streaming Projector ROKU

20 Dec

This is a video to compare these two pico projectors. Both come with 0 price tags and 480p native resolution. Battery life of each just under 2hrs for the Brookstone where the 3M comes in around 1:40min. The 3M is a first of its kind to be truly portable with its inclusion of ROKU’s new streaming stick. Both are bright but Brookstone’s image quality does best the 3M..

it basically means that it will only be using 480 pixels to display the 1080 pixels that true HD uses. it down converts. to the naked eye it hard to detect. it is still VERY sharp. people that “see” a difference between to two are generally the hard to please type.

it says it has 480p native resolution and 1080p max. resolution. what does this mean?

Thanks, great review. Glad I went with the Brookstone, even though I find the focus wheel a little funky. It seems to have 2 “sweet spots,” I go past one and half a turn later there’s another. They’re probably identical but since it’s impossible to toggle them I keep thinking I could get it sharper and find it hard to leave well enough alone! BTW, I’ve projected a 96″ x 50-something image (bigger than recommended) and it was still great. I’m loving this thing!

you can focus the 3M and get it pretty sharp but over all the picture is mostly soft and a little washed out. the brookstone isnt MHL compatible (meaning you wont be able to use ROKU new streaming stick) but you can use your smart phone. and if your smart phone has unlimited 4G you would be better off anyhow. or plug in a ROKU box but that box would need an external power source.

It would of been better if you put a HD movie on. But like how you switched between the two while playing the movie. good job.
