Why don’t you put uv filters on L lenses 🙁

I feel bad not using uv filters on my super cheap lenses .__.

This setup looks very clumsy to me. How are you getting to your camera quickly? I also hate the very loud zippers think-tank uses. In my opinion semi-pro users ( actually amateur enthousiasts) shouldn’t buy a bag that doesn’t leave room for anything other then cameragear. It’s just not practical.

No, it was just what was available on our sales floor without interrupting customer browsing. We’d recommend start with one of the a2xx or c2xx series from Induro for a kit like this, and probably the DM12.

    Hi Jarrad,

Is Sigma 120-300 2.8 EX DG APO HSM OS better than Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VRII only in terms of IQ? if yes or if it is a very close call then my second question is as follows.

Which one would perform better with 2x teleconverter (Sigma with 2x APO DG Converter and Nikon with TC-20E III AF-S Teleconverter) again in terms of IQ over the comparable full focal range then Auto focus.

i am more than happy to drop zoom for quality. what your opinion ?

    Regards,
    Javed

70-200mm is beast i use it at co-op everyday, fucking awesome lens, great for weddings. (works good on the 5D i use at work) so i think it will work great with your D7000.

Jared, good reviewws man, kewp it up…. this video helped in deciding, and i finally got the 70-200 VR 2!! fantastic lens …heavy, but amazing quality indeed.

BTW, i have compared the reach on 200mm, between 18-200 ( at 200) and 70-200 VR2… what i noticed is that the 18-200 VR, actually has less reach than the 200mm on the 70-200… what does this mean ? does the 18-200 really get to 200mm ? does any lens get to 200mm :)?

isnt it shorter only at the closest focusis distance of 1.5 meters? due to the nature of the IF giving it a field of view similar to tht of a 60-135? but how is it at infinity? im considering buying this lens for my dx body. any tips

Actually, I’m curious about its breathing, which can be a problem for use with video doing rack focusing. So any insight you can give me on its breathing would be appreciated? Thanks!

Side comment here Jared, but nice headphones! I hope you are amping them right. If you are ever in the market for new headphones and like the Senn sound signature, give the HD650s a try. I have them and they are easily my favorite headphones in my cache.

Audiophilia and photography…I chose some expensive hobbies, lol.

    Hi Jared.

First i would like to say thanks for all those great videos, they are really inspiring.

I’m about to get myself a 70-200 lens for the D7000 I’ve just ordered. The question if if I should get a new Sigma 70-200 with OS or a secondhand Nikon 70-200 VR1? They are about the same price at my local dealer in Sweden.

As people tend to (blow..!). I am thinking of getting this lens so hope to find out for myself. From what I understand the lens contracts at short focus to give you a shorter focusing distance. If this is so then it only makes the lens more versatile. Thanks. Mark.

I did a test with both lenses and yes it comes up slightly shorter but it’s a ton sharper edge to edge with no vinetting so i prefer that. It’s really no big deal and many people have blown it put of proportion.

I have read somewhere that the new 70-200vrII is shorter than 200mm (when zoomed to 200) only when focusing close. When focusing at distance the vrII lens shows a 200mm field of view. Maybe you could give this a try and let us all know if this is fact of fiction?

Thank You as I agree if the lens does a excellent image just go out and shoot the pictures. I am picking up this lens in a few weeks as just sold some of my older lens and was looking for a good lens to use with my new D700 and I just want the best picture if it’s not quite 200mm then take one step forward as yes I seen the video’s where people will nit-pick the product to death

I’m sure the new VR F2.8 zooms are amazing, but if you don’t get paid to shoot, the old 70-210 F4 is pretty amazing. It actually focuses closer than these new F2.8 lenses, and doesn’t contract its focal length as it focuses.

thanks for the response, you know ive only ever seen one of those lenses? That lens was replaced so fast it wasn’t even funny.

The very first lens I ever bought was the 80-200 2.8 ED 2 touch. I loved that lens so much on my n90s than 5f than i got such a great deal on a 70-200 vr with my d2h that I had to retire it.

You are right thought, pick up one of those if you can find it. You probably can find a 70-200 vr 1 around that price as well.

    Thanks.

still… one should get the classic 80-200 2.8 AF-S, which has none of the issues of the VRI or VRII, and for around 1.000 usd can be called cheap.
