Hey man, I didn’t see this comment sorry! Yeah the lowest f stop for the stock 18-55 is 4.5-5.3 I believe, that’s where I’d advise getting the 50mm which you can get in f1.8 and even f1.4 – you’ll notice a huge difference in depth of field.
Also when in LIVE VIEW mode changing the fstop won’t make a difference on screen unless you go out of LV mode and then back. Hope this helps!

P.s. You can edit using the .MOV files without conversion, but converting through a program such as MPEG Streamclip from .MOV to apple pro res means you can edit render free… It’s a dream.

Hi, yes FCE is compatible with .MOV files. I recommend using FCP7 if you can find it though, cheers!

I’m planning on getting this camera – and was just wondering if FCE is compatible with the video format? Or did it need converting?

    Yep that’s the one. I have a 50mm f1.8 and a 70-300mm lens also now! I recommend the 50mm

    – Man…. you weren’t kidding. The grain on this stock lense is HORRIBLE no matter what. Granted you can get rid of it a little bit, but you have to make everything so freaking dark its not even worth it lol. I really am going to have to get that lenses asap. Also, I was having a hard time telling if changing the f level was actually making a difference with depth of field. And I also couldnt get the f level as low as you were reccomending – maybe the stock lense cant go that low?

I’m enjoying it while I can! Meh I’d rather go to America. There’s not much here but debt & rain. I wanna go to the West coast or do route 66 would be amazing

    – nice man, enjoy it because once you hit the workforce life sucks just a little bit more haha. I want to go to the UK, I definitely will when I’m in a better financial position. I’ve got a few friends there I’ve met through youtube – people from the UK always seem chill as fuck (except for the ones who just blindly hate on all americans – but I can even understand that a bit).

Sweet, I’m from Leicestershire UK. Just in the middle of my final year at University in Northampton (College as you might say!) So I get a loottttt of downtime… Mainly sleeping and getting drunk… Oh and some studying lol

    – I’m from Baltimore, Maryland (U.S.). I sell international travel health insurance. Basically I reply to e-mail quieries, answer phone calls and sell policies all day. Easy shit. Gets a little frustrating tho when you have to answer the same questions over and over again… but I can’t complain because I get alot of downtime. Where you from man?

No worries. So where’re you from? Where do you work? Seem’s like it’s pretty chilled out!…

    – Will do man. I’m about to be on my lunchbreak in about 20 minutes or so and I’m gonna check those links out. My supervisor is close by so I don’t want to play any more music right now lol.

If that doesn’t work try this: /music/Let%27s+Jump%21/Let%27s+Jump%21

Go to free download of ‘Goodbye’ – They’re all by me. Not great but I was just testing out my software really.

Oh no I’m not really screamer myself! This is just something I wrote and produced in a bit of spare time a couple of years ago, go to lastfm:

    January 21, 2013 at 9:04 am

    – Just be careful what mic you buy because while a USB mic is good for what I do, I don’t think it will be great for screaming into. I don’t think the USB mics have enough range for that. If you plan on doing that type of music I would say you should wait until you can shell out atleast £100. It would suck to spend money on a mic that you can’t use for what you’re trying to do.

Yeah that’s pretty cool, I have a few mates in similar bands: /watch?v=dbcurp8BawA. I don’t listen to it like I used to, and like you am pretty open minded. I was looking and saw the Behringer C1U for £50 which seems good. I think I may have to buy it at some point… Not sure when I’ll use it but at least I’ll know I’ve got it haha. I’ve got all the gadgets etc etc might as well add to it!

    January 21, 2013 at 10:12 am

    – Haha. I mean it’s not one of the genres I listen to all the time, but my friend is actually in a screamo band. Well tbh I dunno if this is considered screamo but his band is getting pretty big: /watch?v=ahxkkODMt5s

I do listen to their stuff… I’m pretty open minded. Let me know what you think of it.
I can’t say that I’d reccomend the AT 20-20 because I got that 2 years ago and I know there has to be better USB mics on the market by now for the same price.

    January 21, 2013 at 10:14 am

Awwsome. Is that really all done with an AT02020? Ace quality, tempting to get one! Not sure I’d use it. I’ve got garage band but never bother to learn it really. I bought a MIDI keyboard aswell. I’f I had more time on my hands i’d deffo like to make some music. Do you like Elecctro/Screamo?… Didn’t think so 😛

thats a good question because it brings up the only real bad point of the d600, you need to recompose your shots!

true well ill give that to 6D hehe

  29. mcnamarareport

    January 21, 2013 at 12:18 pm

All true, but to be fair the 6D offers better manual control of video (you can change aperture and shutter during recording.)

    January 21, 2013 at 12:53 pm

hehehe i didnt get the first part on what you said haha, for me D600 kills the Canon 6D why? first the auto focus D600 has 39 and 9 crosstype, the 6D has only 11 and only 1 crosstype , the d600 has dual SD card slot, 6d only has one bcoz it has a WiFi, 6D’s price will drop so that it can attract more buyers.

nothing kills the last Canon FX… Canon simply commit suicide on that 6D

First review that actually gets to the point by not bashing alternatives nor over glorifying the product under review. I’m a D800 owner and am already fed up with some of the sensationalised reports of alternatives – this review today is simply factual and lets the watched decide.

Hi I am very new to photography, and there is something I dont get about focusing, in the d7000 the auto-focus points cover most of the “image”, in this camera, they cover only the center (due to a bigger sensor and same AF system), how can you use the rule of thirds if there is no focus points “in the thirds”.
    Thanks

The stabilized kit lens (24-85- f/3.5-4.5G VR) adds @$500 to the “body only” price of the D600, so in an apples-to-apples comparison, the difference in Australia is @$600 between the D600 and D800E bodies, not $100.

    January 21, 2013 at 5:22 pm

Price difference in the Australia is about $100, a D600 with Kit lens cost $3K here and D800E body alone cost $3,1K. tell me if this a value full frame dslr 🙁

Price difference in the US is about $700–enough to buy the battery grip, external flash, and WiFi adapter. All food for thought.
