i redid this cover for the vic firth drum competition, i think the angles are a little better than my last born of osiris cover, let me know what you all think!!     You can do the same in LR4 but there is always an exception when you’re doing panoramic shots or square pictures.

    Is this also true in lightroom 4? So I should always go with original ratio when cropping in Lr then select the size I want from the drop menus?

    You’re right sometimes you can crop the picture not using original ratio like those square sizes but my approach to teaching is different. There was a time 90% of the pictures posted on my FB page were not cropped correctly and composition wasn’t right either. I made this video to fix that problem. I always say there is nothing absolute in photography. It’s all a guide line and every rule can be broken. You’ll soon see other cropping ratios on this matter. Thanks for watching!

    First thank you for posting ur videos.
    second actually I think cropping a picture with its original ratio isn’t a must, some times it looks much better not to follow the original ratio,
    I think it’s all about composition.
