A video documenting a photoshoot showing the versatility of the strobe unit in getting different looks, even at the same location. Unlike the last one, I don’t go into great detail about the set ups and the techy stuff for photographers new to the strobing world. The set ups are really simple, and if you’ve been using lighting gear for a while you will probably be able to tell how I did it from the photos. Sometimes I used just one flash (Miranda) and sometimes two (Caroline and Emily), but never three. Hope you all enjoy! _Nathanael www.NathanaelGassettPhotography.com

i think u would have gotten the materials by the time i posted this message but i think it would really better the already good images if a softbox were used..or maybe an umbrella 🙂 but great results for a simple basic strobe set up 🙂

I agree, the shadows were pretty harsh on the last model especially. What you don’t see in the video is the fact that one of the model’s keys (along with her makeup and much of her wardrobe) got locked in the trunk of her car. We then spent a few hours breaking into her car, leaving us only 1 hour to shoot, thus the rush. haha. So yes, I would have done the last two differently if we had had more time.

The ambient settings changed really quickly as the sun was setting. I honestly don’t remember what they were for each given photo. I could have dug up the EXIF data, but that was too much trouble. 😀
From what I remember about that shoot:
The first set was around f/2.8 shutter at 200 or 250th ISO 200
The second was also at f/2.8 shutter 160th to 200th, ISO 200 or 400.
The last was probably around f/2.8, shutter 60 or 80th, ISO 400 (but I’m really just guessing on that one.)
Thanks for watching!

I tend to not like being able see up peoples noses. Other angles were good, Great color balancing with the flash.

If you can afford the D300, get it! I absolutely love it. But while I haven’t used the D90, I hear it’s awesome as well. Can’t go wrong with either option, but the D300 will probably last you longer!

That was useful, especially since I finally got a couple of strobes. Lots for me to now experiment with. Thanks.
