Giotto’s launches ‘Air’ range of lightweight tripods

Giotto’s has announced four new lightweight and compact tripods designed for travel. Coming in both aluminum and carbon fiber models, they all feature four-section legs for portability, a Y-shaped center column and include a carrying case. The new ‘Air’ tripods will retail from £180-£334 ($ 301-$ 559). Learn more

PPE 2013: Hands-on with new Manfrotto 190 tripods

We’re at the Photo Plus Expo in New York, and this morning we got an opportunity to look at Manfrotto’s new 190-series tripods. The 190 series has been among Manfrotto’s most popular products for a long time, and the recently-announced updates take up less space when folded, and add some interesting and well thought-out improvements to the design. Joby introduces GPod Mini Magnetic and MPod Mini Stand flexible tripods

Joby has announced two new flexible tripods. The GPod Mini Magnetic is designed for compact cameras, and the MPod Mini Stand will hold a smartphone in or out of a case. Smaller than the original Gorillapod, the GPod Mini Magnetic – as its name implies – contains magnets in its feet to secure a compact camera to a metal surface. It can hold cameras weighing up to 325 grams. The MPod Mini Stand will accommodate a phone as wide as 3.2 inches between its rubberized ‘jaws.’ Click through for more details and pricing.

Giottos introduces ‘YTL’ series tripods with space-saving design

Giottos has announced a range of tripods that use a unique ‘Y’-shaped centre column profile to offer a more compact folded package. The ‘Silk Road YTL series’ replaces the existing MTL range in its entirety, and according to Giottos offers a 30% space saving without any sacifice in stability or weight capacity.  The range includes 12 models offering 3- or 4-section legs, conventional 2-way or tilting centre columns, and weight capacities from 5 to 10 kg. They’ll be on sale from mid-January, with at prices starting from £100 for aluminium, or £220 for carbon fibre models.
