If you use this with speedlights, I would recommend cheaper alternative because this need sync port. But if you have these already and your flashes have sync port, you need three PW3s: One to camera, two for flashes.

Hi, do you know “Photo SFXart Tricks” (just do a Google search for it…)? There you will find a great free video explaining how to make incredible photos. It made it easier for Joe to make pictures that leave you with a jaw-dropping-effect while you look at them. It might work for you also…

You can’t set a Canon 580exii into an optical slave mode (su4) like you can with the Nikon flashes. Bummer I know. You’d have to buy an additional optical slave hot shoe adaptor.

hey guys, under the bridge with Lee – his backlight was an sb800 set to “su4 mode”, which fires when it sees another flash. What I’m wondering is – what do I set my flash to if I’m using a canon “580 exii”? thanks

Thanks for the info 🙂 I responded before, but not as a reply to what you wrote for some odd reason.

@Mariocell34 I see…. Didn’t know the light turned off beforehand. I found it confusing since it was only signaling “that” particular flash (marked A for example) to turn off then on making the silhouette from above. I didn’t know that even if “A” was marked only, all flashed would be affected. Thanks for the info though, I’m curious in making a small home studio one day to fiddle around with flash photography.

Hello, are you familiar with “PhotoSFXart” (just search on Google for it …)? On their website you will find a great free video showing the right way to make incredible pictures. This helped Joe to create pictures which leave you with that wow-effect any time you look at them. It may work for you too…

Noob question, at around 4:10 he took a pic while there was still plenty of light around on the model and yet all it showed was the flash and nothing else. How is that? And what settings would that have to be in order to do?

Great vid. Did you find the pocket wizards would only work on certain channels? Mine will only fire the flash once (the initial trigger) on most of the channels. A few channels work, but most of those don’t have groups.
