I really find that when I shoot DSLR, I generally will shoot dual system sound any way. This is still an interesting option but it’s not one I use in my workflow.

for a few box more you can buy a field recorder, with phantom powerd XLR inputs + line out + headphone out, what gives you a nice AMP and in some cases 2 backup files that prevents peaking

Hi there!
Would it work on an eos 550D?
Thanks already!

Is there any xlr input adapter with phantom power that is better for a lower budget?

Using a Fotodiox Pro EF-NOS to adapt the manual focus Nikon lenses. For the M-Audio Nova Mic – you’ll need the DXA -SLR for the phantom power.

what adapter did you use to mount that FD lens to your 5D? also, would a Beachtek DXA 2T work with a canon 60D and an M-Audio Nova microphone?
Thanks

Yes, it does a pretty good job of getting rid of AGC hiss. I talk about it in my review.

I stand by my review of the product. I haven’t had the bad experience the commenter had. Quite the opposite.
No, I haven’t tried the JuicedLink.

I believe VeeDeoMan was advising me against using beachtek products, NOT asking me to
an independent recording device. Have you tried the juicedLink DT454 4-Channel DSLR Camera Microphone Preamplifier?

In general I would agree with you although I think recording to an independent recording device (given you have the time to sync in post) is ideal in terms of flexibility and quality.
But in a certain situations I stand by this device. I haven’t had any issues with noise or audio leaking between channels.

VeeDeoMan says:
used the DXA-5D before
The pre-amps noisy and audio leaking between two channels….last time 5D cam still cannot do manual audio, and the only good thing is it kills the AGC feature.
Other than that, I rather opt for a dedicated soundman with good mixer that can output mic level into the 5D directly.

This thing is a pile of junk unworthy of my $400. They must have fell down and bumped their heads. I’m an audio expert. I could make something for around $40 that would work. And this piece of dog crap doesn’t even have phantom power.. But of course, you can buy an “upgraded” version with phantom power for “a few bucks more”. Gimme a break.
This is a classic example of someone cornering a market and bleeding a consumer dry. I hope a new company puts this p.o.s. company under.

that would be like comparing apples to oranges. The H4n is would set up a dual system (though you could probably rig up a single system).

Would you recommend this over an H4n?

We don’t include prices in the review unless it’s really high or really low because prices change. For the current market price check out the link in the article.

it would have been nice had you mentioned the price either in the video itself or in the description…
