What’s in My Camera Bag?

19 Dec

Hey again, today I want to show you a bit of my photography obsession, and show you what I’m currently carrying in my camera bag. My gear choices are always changing, but for now I’ve gotten rid of all my zoom lenses and am sticking with a few lighter weight primes to free up some weight and up the image quality a bit. Of course all my gear is Nikon and has been since 1994. I’ve owned many, many Nikon lenses, cameras, and equipment over the years from the 10mm fisheye all the way up to a 400mm f/2.8 telephoto with teleconverters. I’ve even owned some Tamron, Tokina and Sigma stuff as well. At one point I looked in my bag and realised I could shoot at 50mm 7 different ways! I’m going with a simpler kit now and am relieved that I can do it with just a couple lenses and a good camera body. Thanks for watching and subscribe for more photography related content!

A perfect portrait lens. I actually miss that length now that I’m running full frame. I find the standard 50mm not quite long enough on FX.

Yeah I think 20mm is too wide for a polarizer. Maybe a really thin one would work. Stop the lens down too for less vignetting.

I’m slightly frustrated with my copy, it’s vignette a lot 🙁 can’t even put polarizer

Lol, ah nice catch, but actually I’ve got a D800 too and I also have shot film extensively, so I do know. It’s not razor sharp in the corners, but when used correctly at a proper aperture and on a tripod it is sharp enough. Some people even complained about corner sharpness on a crop sensor, which is just crazy.

Dude, you use a D300, you can’t even use the corner of the 20mm, so how would you know the corner sharpness?

I’ve seen them years ago, the cost of going medium format always was prohibitive though. I did get a Mamiya 654E for a few months right before everything went digital, but the lack of interchangable backs made it tough to work fast with it.

You shot fashion and wedding, and you mainly use primes. Ever considering getting yourself a contax645??
