Olloclip introduces new ‘Pro’ and ‘Intro’ series lenses for Android and iOS devices

09 Nov

Smartphone photography accessory manufacturer Olloclip has expanded its lineup of lenses for Android and iOS smartphones with an all new “Pro Series” and “Intro Series” that round out the company’s Connect X line.

The Olloclip Pro Series consists of a Super-Wide lens and a telephoto lens, both of which come in two varieties to work with the maximum number of smartphones possible.

According to Olloclip, the new Super-Wide lens features less distortion than any wide angle lenses the company has offered to date. Olloclip says the Super-Wide lens doubles the field of view of your smartphone’s camera and features a multi-element lens that has coatings to help “deliver premium image quality.”

The Pro Series telephoto lens, on the other hand, offers 2x optical zoom. It too features a multi-element lens with coatings for improved image quality. Olloclip has made 2x telephoto lenses in the past, but says this Pro Series version “gathers more light for a brighter photograph.”

Both lenses in the Pro series are available for all of Olloclips current lens attachments for $ 119.95 or on their own for $ 99.99.

In addition to the new Pro Series, Olloclip also unveiled the more budget-friendly Intro Series, a two-in-one setup that offers both a macro and wide angle lens in one. In its standard form, the lens works as a wide angle lens, but when you unscrew the front part of the lens, it reveals an integrated macro lens underneath.

The Intro Lens is available with Olloclip’s current lineup of lens attachments for $ 39.95 or on its own for $ 19.99.

You can find out more information and purchase the new lenses from Olloclip’s online shop.

Olloclip announces Multi-Device Clip for smartphone lenses

05 Sep

Olloclip has built a reputation as one of the most successful manufacturers of smartphone accessory lenses. However, so far most Olloclip lenses have had one important limitation: they were device-specific. If you had more than one smartphone you could not use the lenses with all your devices, or if you upgraded to a new handset you usually needed to get new lens clips and/or lenses.

This is now a thing of the past, however. Today Olloclip has announced its new Multi-Device Clip. The clip is designed to work with the company’s Connect X line of interchangeable lenses, which includes several wide-angle options, macro lenses, a telephoto and a fisheye, and works with most smartphones.

The Multi-Device-Clip can expand to fit devices of up to 12mm thickness, meaning it is compatible with screen protectors and you can usually leave your case on as well, when snapping an image with your Olloclip lenses.

Olloclip’s new Multi-Device Clip will be available with any of the Connect X lenses mid-September starting at $ 60. You can sign up for more information on the upcoming release on the Olloclip website.

Olloclip launches Connect X lens system for Apple iPhone X

02 May

Smartphone accessory lens maker Olloclip has launched a new mobile lens system that is designed specifically for use with the Apple iPhone X.

With a number of interchangeable lenses and a “lens mount” that clips onto your device, Connect X works in a very similar way to previous Olloclip systems. However, the new lenses come with a number of features that are exclusive to Apple’s flagship smartphone, including a lens mount that aligns perfectly with the iPhone X’s front and rear cameras, allowing for use of the accessory lenses with both camera modules.

In addition, the lens mount is expandable and therefore usable in combination with most protective phone cases. The Connect X system also comes with a pendant stand designed to carry the set of lenses, but that also works as a mini-tripod.

There are six lenses available for the Connect X system:

  • Super-Wide: Four-element lens with 120° field of view
  • Ultra-Wide: 155° field-of-view
  • Fisheye + 15x Macro: 180° wide-angle spherical effect + 15x magnification
  • Telephoto: 2x optical zoom
  • 14x + 7x Macro
  • 21x Macro

The system is now available to order on Olloclip.com. Individual components range from $ 60 to $ 80. You can also purchase a Mobile Photography Box Set for iPhone X which contains the Connect X lens mount plus Super-Wide, Fisheye, and Macro 15x lenses. It will set you back $ 100. The bundle will also be available at Apple Stores starting in June.

Olloclip launches three lens kits for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

12 Oct

Olloclip has announced the launch of three lens kits for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: the Active Lens Set, Core Lens Set, and Macro Lens Set. All three sets, of which there are eight lenses total, are joined by the new Connect interchangeable lens system, which makes quick work of swapping between the various iPhone 7 Connect lenses. The Connect system sits flush with the iPhone’s two cameras, and can be used alongside screen protectors up to 0.5mm in width.

According to olloclip, the new iPhone 7 lenses are designed to offer ‘similar perspectives’ to what you get with DSLR lenses; they offer coated glass optics and ‘edge-to-edge clarity.’

Core Lens Set ($ 99.99):

  • ‘Near 180-degree spherical effect’ Fisheye lens
  • ‘Advanced 4-element’ Super-Wide lens with greater than 120-degree field-of-view
  • Macro 15x lens

Active Lens Set ($ 119.99):

  • Telephoto 2x optical zoom lens
  • Ultra-Wide 155-degree FOV lens

Macro Pro Lens Set ($ 79.99):

  • Macro 7x lens
  • Macro 14x lens
  • Macro 21x lens

Speaking about the lenses, company founder Patrick O’Neill said, “olloclip is committed to continually enhancing the mobile photography experience. That means giving full respect to mobility with no oversized, heavy lenses and paying strict attention to delivering beautiful photography with the simplest, quickest and most versatile user experience possible.”

All three lens kits are available to pre-order now from Olloclip’s website and are expected to ship in early November.

Olloclip launches Studio accessory-mount case for Apple iPhone

16 Jan

Mobile phone add-on-lens manufacturer olloclip has announced it is to introduce a new case for the iPhone 6 series that makes it easier to fit additional accessories to complement the process of shooting movies and stills with its products.

The olloclip Studio features a rail on the lens side that allows finger grips, a tripod thread and a cold-shoe to be attached to the case. The idea is that the case then provides the means for the photographer to fit an LED light panel or a microphone, as well as mount the phone on a tripod, a grip or shooting handle.

Included accessories: 1. Studio Case 2. Finger Grip 3. Cold-shoe (x2) 4. Kickstand 5. Tripod thread clip (x2)

The case has a cut away section so that the olloclip lenses can be attached, and a kick-stand allows the phone to free-stand to make reviewing images more comfortable.

The olloclip Studio is due to arrive in February, and will come in two form-factors to be compatible with the iPhone 6/6s or the iPhone 6/6s Plus. Both versions will cost £79.99/$ 89.99, without a lens.
