The lens is currently listed on Amazon, but pricing and availability aren’t yet mentioned.

1 We try to share sample photos in our articles when provided, but Meike inexplicably decided to provide their sample images as one long image, which measures 790 x 16,187 pixels.

Meike launches new 25mm T2.2 cine lens with ‘decent build quality’ for MFT camera systems

24 Aug

Hong Kong-based Meike has added to its collection of lenses with a new 25mm T2.2 cine lens for Micro Four Thirds camera systems.

The lens is entirely manual with a minimum focusing distance of 25cm/9.84in and a 77mm front filter thread. The optical construction includes ten elements in eight groups, which makes for a 49.7 degree angle of view.

The 25mm T2.2 cine lens weighs 560g/1.23lbs and features a pair of geared rings for changing its focus and aperture. Interestingly, even Meike seems hesitant on the quality of construction. In the product description on its Amazon page, Meike says the lens offers ‘decent build quality.’ Humble, sure, but not exactly reassuring.

Alongside the lens, which is currently available on Amazon for $ 340, is a rear lens cap, front lens cap, and a microfiber bag for safe transport.

Meike introduces full-frame Sony edition of its 50mm F1.7 lens

12 May

$ (document).ready(function() { SampleGalleryV2({“containerId”:”embeddedSampleGallery_8328050497″,”galleryId”:”8328050497″,”isEmbeddedWidget”:true,”selectedImageIndex”:0,”isMobile”:false}) });

Chinese lens manufacturer Meike has added a new version of its existing 50mm F1.7 lens to its range, but this time for full-frame Sony users. The existing model, introduced in February, was aimed at users of mirrorless cameras systems and comes in APS-C and MFT mounts. The newly released version features a wider covering circle meant for larger sensors – at the moment those in Sony E-Mount cameras.

As before, this new model is manual focus only and has a minimum focus distance of 50cm. It uses 6 elements in 5 groups and has a filter thread that measures 52mm. Meike says it weighs 310g, measures 61×54.5mm, and that it uses a metal mount and barrel. Although the spec sheet doesn’t mention the number of blades in the iris, the product shots show 12 edges on the aperture—the same as in the existing model.

The lens is listed on Amazon USA for $ 130, and for €131.50 in some parts of Europe. It is listed as unavailable in the UK and no price is given. For more information, visit the Meike website.

Meike announces full frame 85mm F1.8, its first autofocus lens

21 Apr

Chinese accessories brand Meike has announced it will introduce an autofocus 85mm F1.8 lens for Canon and Nikon full-frame DSLRs. In addition to adding another (very likely) affordable third party option to the mix, this will be the company’s first AF lens.

Details are a little thin on the ground, but early marketing materials suggest it will be a lightweight and compact lens with an all-metal body construction. The optical formula will use nine elements in six groups, and all elements will be multi-coated on both sides. Close focus will begin at 0.85m with a maximum magnification of 1:1.8. The lens will be 79.5mm long and will accept a 67mm filter.

In addition to the Nikon and Canon full-frame mounts, Meike will release the MK-85mm F1.8 lens for Sony APS-C models as well. No price has been announced as of yet, and the company hasn’t said when we should expect the lens to go on sale.

Meike teases three new lenses: 50mm F1.7, 25mm F2.0 and 25mm T2.2

08 Feb

Chinese accessory and optical manufacturer Meike has posted a picture on its website of three lenses it intends to launch in the coming months. Two stills lenses are promised, a 50mm and a 25mm, as well as a 25mm designed for movie shooters.

It is reported that the first will be a 50mm F1.7 for mirrorless systems—including the Canon EOS M mount—which is due in the middle of next month. A 25mm F2 shown in the same graphic is quite a different design to the 50mm, and different also from Meike’s existing mirrorless and APS-C range of lenses, so it isn’t easy to guess what systems this model will be aimed at. The third lens is a 25mm T2.2 Cinema lens, which appears to be the company’s first foray into this video market.

Finally, as for how much these lenses might cost, it’s worth noting that the company’s current 50mm F2 retails for about $ 80… so they tend to be pretty affordable.

Meike iPhone lens adapter case takes ring light and Sony QX1

18 Jun

$ (document).ready(function() { SampleGalleryV2({“containerId”:”embeddedSampleGallery_5756523953″,”galleryId”:”5756523953″,”isEmbeddedWidget”:true,”standalone”:false,”selectedImageIndex”:0,”startInCommentsView”:false,”isMobile”:false}) });

Hong Kong accessory manufacturer Meike has introduced a new case for the Apple iPhone 6/6s that accepts three accessory lenses and offers a mount for a ring light and Sony’s ILCE-QX1 E-mount ‘lens-style camera’. The MK-H6S PRO comes with a hand grip that has a Bluetooth-enabled shutter release button to deliver a more camera-like experience for mobile phone photographers.

The kit includes three lenses – a 0.65x wide-angle adapter, a 180° fisheye and a 2.5x macro lens – that screw into a mount over the device’s built-in camera. A larger mounting ring in the middle of the case accepts an optional ring light with built-in mirror for selfies. The same ring is also compatible with Sony’s 20MP APS-C QX1 adapter so users will be able to fit Sony E lenses to the device, preview the image on the phone’s screen and control capture via the grip’s shutter release.

The Meike MK-H6S PRO will cost £45/$ 65. For more information visit the Meike website.
