Sigma to release a new ‘DN’ lens for mirrorless camera systems via livestream on December 1

Sigma has announced it will be showing off a new Digital Neo (DN) lens on December 1 during its ‘Sigma Stage Online’ livestream.

No further information has been shared about what kind of lens we can expect, but with the livestream just a week out, we won’t have to wait long. The livestream will take place at 7am ET (4am PT) using the below video:

Panasonic will announce, via livestream, its new Lumix S5 full-frame camera on September 2

Panasonic has announced it will hold an online launch event for its new full-frame mirrorless camera, the Lumix S5, on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 10 AM EDT.

Aside from the date and time, no further information was shared about the camera or launch event. Panasonic suggests keeping an eye on its Lumix S5 webpage and Instagram account, but we will also update this article with a link to the event when it goes live.

Blackmagic Design has announced it will be hosting a ‘Camera Update’ livestream on YouTube at 12pm EDT (UTC -4) on July 29 (roughly 27 hours after this article is published).

No additional information about the event has been shared at this time, but if past Blackmagic Design ‘Update’ livestreams are anything to go by, there will likely be new and/or improved hardware on display. Canon confirms ‘Reimagine’ product launch, Q&A livestream for July 9

Canon UK has confirmed it will be hosting a livestream event for what it calls its ‘biggest product launch yet.

According to the microsite on Canon UK’s website, the ‘Reimagine’ event will take place at 14:00 CEST on July 9. In addition to the vague ‘product launch’ teaser, Canon Ambassadors and experts will also be hosting a Q&A during the event to talk about ‘Canon’s latest additions to its product range.’

The sign-up form, which appears as a pop-up dialog box on Canon UK’s microsite for the event.

The event will be livestreamed on YouTube, where Canon suggests it will be taking questions from the live comments feed. You can sign up to be notified of the event on Canon UK’s microsite.

Canon will livestream product announcements on April 20th

Canon has announced it will be hosting a Virtual Press Conference at 1pm on April 20, 2020 ‘to unveil the company’s new professional imaging products and technologies.’

The press release, embedded below, doesn’t specifically say what products Canon has in store, but does say they will be ‘broadcast and cinema products’ that ‘[align] with the current and growing needs of the respective industries such as 4K UHD and HDR, as well as evolving technologies.’

In the meantime, you can spend your days in quarantine staring at the countdown timer on Canon’s website.

Fujifilm’s X Summit livestream hints at new product launch

Fujifilm will be livestreaming its X Summit 2020, which is taking place in London tomorrow at 8pm GMT / 3pm EST / noon PST, with panel discussions and maybe even a product announcement.

DPReview’s own Barney Britton will be on the panel, along with senior management from Fujifilm and pro photographers, which will make for an interesting discussion.

The livestream can be watched on Fujifilm’s website or on YouTube.

Blackmagic Design will livestream tomorrow’s camera, post-production event

Blackmagic Design has sent out an email announcing that tomorrow, August 8, at 12PM PDT, it will be holding a livestream related to its post production and camera products.

Blackmagic Design CEO and co-founder Grant Petty will be leading the livestream, which will be available to watch on Blackmagic Design’s website, YouTube channel and Facebook page. Below is a list of when the event will go live in various cities around the globe.

No hints were given as to what will be announced, but if past livestreams are anything to go by, it should be fairly straightforward, with Petty discussing current and upcoming products and updates. Any guesses?

YI 360 VR camera can livestream in 4K, supports Vive and Rift headsets

Chinese company YI has introduced a new consumer camera called the YI 360 VR. This model features a pair of cameras with 220-degree f/2.0 aspheric glass lenses, one on the front and another on the back, that simultaneously record footage. The resulting videos have up to a 4K/30fps resolution if stitched in-camera, while footage stitched using the camera’s PC app maxes out at 5.7K/30fps resolution.

The YI 360 VR is compatible with both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets. The camera supports recording 4K video for up to 60 minutes per charge, and you’ve got integrated dual-band WiFi for livestreaming in 4K.

Users are able to preview the footage in five modes: little planet, stretched view, panoramic, round, and dual VR. Here’s a quick introduction that gives you an idea of the kinds of shots you can expect from the YI 360 VR:

YI is offering its 360 VR camera through Microsoft’s website and its physical Microsoft Store US locations for $ 400 USD. Live demonstrations of the camera are offered in stores as well.

Sony dropped a bombshell at 2am Eastern time last night, announcing the 42.4MP mirrorless full-frame Sony a7R III to the world. The 360fly 4K PRO camera can livestream 360-degree UHD video

360fly just launched pre-orders for its new 360fly 4K PRO, a camera capable of live streaming Ultra HD footage in 360-degrees.

The camera, which is priced at $ 800 USD and will be available commercially starting this Fall, can livestream equirectangular footage over HDMI 1.4 on YouTube and Facebook, as well as live 360-degree 4K footage using WiFi. An internal battery supports up to 15 hours of standby time and 1.5 hours of recording time; there’s also a USB 2.0 port for continuously powering the camera.
