Windows 7 – Force Notepad or Other Applications to Always Run Full Screen

16 Oct

Tired of your Windows 7 applications not taking up the whole screen?

Applications in Windows 7 run as … well .. windows. They don’t have to take up the full screen, allowing you to view the contents of multiple folders or applications simultaneously. You can move windows around, resize them, minimize them, etc.

However, there may be some applications that you would rather have take up the whole display whenever you start them. For example, if you open Notepad you would rather have the whole screen available for you to edit data – the same with Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word. Or, perhaps you have a smaller monitor and need the full display every time you open up a web browser. Here’s a tip that works with most applications….

Hipstamatic moving ‘full force ahead’ despite major layoffs

19 Aug

Hipstamatic denies that the layoffs of five employees signifies the death knell for the longtime mobile photography favorite. Yesterday the Hipstamatic team was reduced from a team of 11 to a mere six employees through a restructuring effort and questions quickly arose about the future of the app known for its toy camera capabilities. ‘We’re still moving full force ahead — the original team that built Hipstamatic is still here, and remains deeply committed to continuing to make great products that inspire our community and the world,’ said Molli Sullivan, Hipstamatic’s director of communications.

3D Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 FINAL BATTLE (gameplay + cinematic)

29 Sep

This video is in anaglyph 3D (you need red/cyan glasses to view it). The clip portrays the end of Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2. It is a battle between Starkiller and Darth Vader. TO ACHIEVE OPTIMUM VIEWING EXPERIENCE: You will need a pair of anaglyph red/cyan (red/blue will also work) glasses and watch the video in a non-full screen mode on my channel (because of the dark background), preferably at a 480p+ resolution. *Most users find these measures greatly improving their experience although some insist that full screen mode works almost as well. In the end its your choice. The 3D effects may not be the most impressive, but its pretty decent considering that it is a convert =] For now I have chosen not to use the YouTube 3D player because of its many flaws. The reason why I decided to concentrate on anaglyph type of 3D video because it requires the least amount of specialized hardware (just the easily obtainable red/cyan glasses) and it efficiently achieves desirable results. Check out my channel for more 3D content. Enjoy.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 – Force All Documents to Open in a Particular View

28 Jan

If you open many PowerPoint 2010 documents daily and every author saves them with their own view, force PowerPoint to start on one particular view.

If you work in an office environment requiring the opening of many Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 presentations from a variety of authors, you may have noticed that presentations get saved with a variety of views. Perhaps one person was working on Notes when they saved their presentation, another likes using the Outline View, and yet another forgoes notes and displays slides along with thumbnails.

Instead of opening every presentation in the view saved inside the file, you can force PowerPoint 2010 to open every presentation in the view you desire….

Microsoft Outlook 2010 – Force Spell Check to Occur Before Sending Emails

30 Oct

To help avoid embarrassing mistakes, configure Outlook 2010 to always spell check your e-mail before sending it.

Microsoft Outlook 2010 automatically corrects many common spelling errors via its AutoCorrect features, and words not found in the dictionary are marked with red squiggles. However, if you type up a quick e-mail and press the “Send” button, it can be easy to glance over possible spelling errors.

You can configure the software to automatically spell check documents once you hit the “Send” button, displaying dialog boxes as it finds possible misspellings and asking you how to correct them. While running a spell checker automatically won’t guarantee your documents will be free from errors, it probably won’t hurt. Plus, if you’re in a hurry and have to get an e-mail sent ASAP (errors or not), you can abort the spell check operation….
