Figaro is wandering through a dry, salty landscape dying of thirst. He rushes to watery relief only to be disappointed by a cruel mirage. The final mirage being the cruelest of all…
Figaro ventures out for a short bus ride to the local village. Whilst smelling a fragrant rose, Figaro’s tranquility is shattered by the arrival of a very, very stinky man who sits right next to Figaro despite the fact that every other seat is free.
I was messing around in Lightwave for few hours yesterday, and doodled out this dragon head… It is a work in progress, as I did not have the time to finish it. But I intend to get back to it sometime soon, and complete it, as well as animate it. When I do, I’ll record it and post it here as well. I think it is worth mentioning that I have only been messing with 3D for a little over a year now… So I’m sure all of you 3D gurus out there will find many flaws in my workflow. I apologize for the quality of the video in some parts… I did this on a mac, and the graphics card in it stinks. Not to mention, I am used to animating/sculpting on a boxxtech windows based machine. (far superior for this type of work, to me anyway). I may not leave this video up for very long, as I realize it is hard to see just what the heck I am doing. Time-lapse doesn’t work as well for me on this as it does on my painting workflow. Timelapsed video… Actual time 3 or 4 hours. Lightwave 9.3.1 Mac OS X Video Rating: 4 / 5
Figaro takes another trip down to the bus stop only to discover grandma Dorothy is sitting on the bench, beckoning Figaro to sit next to her for some company. His horror of old people escalates as Dorothy offers Figaro a boiled mint from the bottom of her purse.
Figaro is peacefully laying down on the edge of the cliff (his favorite outdoors spot). The serenity is broken when his world literally turns upside down and he becomes the victim of an intergalactic vacuum cleaner.
Figaro pompously unveils a freshly painted portrait of himself, only to receive a karmic tickle in the nose and sneezes a gallon of snot on the portrait. In a Dorian Grey moment, we see how the ugliness on the painting is reflected on Figaro’s face! Brown paper bag here we come! Video Rating: 4 / 5
Figaro attempts to be civil and polite to an innocent commuter called Herman, when suddenly a telecommunications van zooms by and erects a public phone right next to the bus stop. Figaro’s imagination runs wild as we see the phone turn into a lasso-wielding monster.
I’ve only recently started playing EVE Online and found myself being fascinated by those enormous spaceships. Thanks to a great piece of software called TriExporter, I was able to import these models into Maya and decided to render some Amarr ships as “miniatures” 😉 For those not familiar with the metric system: 1 meter equals about 1 yard. 1 km equals about 0.6 miles. I may not have gotten all the colors right since I’m just beginning to play (and loving it btw) and won’t encounter most of these ships until a few months in. Sadly, some of the textures that come with the game are a little low in terms of resolution (especially for the avatar) but I did my best to cover that up… Some of the shaders could use improvement but since this is just a quick set-up, and apart from the occasional flickering, it looks good enough for now. Software: TriExporter, Photoshop, Maya, After Effects Music: Arboretum by Max Richter Models and Textures: CCP Games Inspired by TakeBackTheWorld (HL2 engine) and arkorum (Crysis engine), thanks!
