Hasselblad introduces Stellar II luxury enthusiast compact

Hasselblad has announced the Stellar II, an enthusiast compact which the company says has been ‘conceived and crafted exclusively for aficionados, collectors, and connoisseurs’. Like other recent Hasselblads, the Stellar II is a rebadged Sony camera – which in this case is the RX100 III. Available grip finishes include olive, walnut, padouk, and carbon fiber. You can pick one up for yourself at a price of $ 2395/€1650.

Fujifilm announces X30 enthusiast compact camera

27 Aug

Fujfilm has introduced its X30 enthusiast compact, which offers a 2/3″ X-Trans II CMOS sensor and a 28-112mm equivalent F2.0-2.8 lens – both of which are retained from the X20 that precedes it. New features include a larger, tilting 3″ LCD, an XGA OLED electronic viewfinder, a control wheel around the lens, and greatly improved battery life. A new ‘Classic Chrome’ film simulation mode has also been added, as has Wi-Fi. Read more

Sony RX10 added to enthusiast compact buying guide

We just added Sony’s RX10 to our enthusiast compact camera buying guide and also updated our aperture comparison chart with Canon’s PowerShot G1 X Mark II. While image quality in this class won’t compete with a good mirrorless camera paired with a good lens, they pack enough features that should satisfy serious photo enthusiasts. Many cameras in this range make an excellent choice as a more portable second camera, or as a single do-it-all option. See how the RX10 ranks
