Let’s take a look at a couple I watched this Halloween season. And while we’re at it, I’ll tell you all about some of the early days of Technicolor and give a bit of insight into the history of 3D movies!

The usual practice for the DRTV guys is to make a video out on the streets in the daytime. But what happens when we shoot on those same streets at an unreasonably early time of the morning? Kai and Lok shoot the streets of Hong Kong at 4am in the morning….

Where The Wild Things Are – Early DISNEY CG Animation Test

09 May

1983 animation test by Disney, directed by John Lasseter (who went on to direct and produce most of the Pixar films, including Toy Story). Back then Disney owned the film rights to the Where The Wild Things Are books… they didn’t use them, though, so they lost them. Check out this amazing test, which combined traditional hand-drawn, 2D animation with then-state-of-the-art 3D computer animation!

early stereoscopic experiments

14 Oct

cross your eyes to see the effect

This is 2K Games’ Bioshock 2 in stereoscopic 3D. While this was created with NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision drivers, the game also runs with DDD and iZ3D software. The results shown here are of lower quality than what the game is capable of. There was a minor compatibility problem with FRAPS in S-3D mode. A full review is available at mtbs3D.com. The audio cuts out in the YouTube version. Don’t know why. The original file is fine.
