Lights, camera, action: Manfrotto Digital Director quick review

Manfrotto’s Digital Director, introduced in April, is a departure from its usual array of tripods and tripod heads. It’s a device designed to hold an iPad Air tethered to a DSLR, providing a large live view screen, access to camera controls and wireless sharing options. Shooting with a large screen can be a revelation compared to using a 3″ LCD, but the Digital Director is pretty pricey. Is it worth the cost? Read more

Manfrotto unveils Digital Director for iPad Air

Manfrotto has used the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show as launching pad for the Digital Director, a bracket designed to turn an iPad Air into an external monitor for Canon and Nikon DSLRs. By connecting the Digital Director to a camera via USB and opening the app of the same name, a Live View feed is provided and exposure settings can be controlled by the iPad. Read more

VII Photo Agency director praises mobile photography

Wired.com has published an interview with Stephen Mayes, director of the VII photo agency, about the importance of mobile photography in the digital age. According to Mayes, smartphone photography represents a ‘pivotal moment’ in photography, and calls cell phones ‘a pretty pure implementation of the digital phenomenon’. Comment:The graffiti was made at the festival of the contemporary visual arts called Art Stays which took place between 24th and 31th July. It represents the main message of the festival: art connects people wherever they are, regardless of any societal and ecological problems which are illustrated by the hurricane in the background and which in a way inspire creation works of art like this.
