Fujifilm debuts mid-price X-S10 with six stops of in-body stabilization

Fujifilm has just introduced its newest APS-C mirrorless camera, the X-S10. It brings the X-T4’s still image capabilities into a smaller, more affordable package, with nearly the same in-body stabilization rating.

The Fujifilm X-S10 features a 26.1MP X-Trans sensor and X-Processor 4, both borrowed from the X-T4. What isn’t lifted from the higher-end model is an all-new in-body image stabilization system, re-designed for the X-S10’s more compact form and 30% smaller than the X-T4’s IBIS unit. It’s rated up to 6 stops of shake reduction (compared to the X-T4’s 6.5) and achieves that level of performance with most of Fujifilm’s unstabilized lenses.

The X-S10 offers a fully articulating 3″ LCD with 1.04 million dots, and a built-in electronic viewfinder that’s a bit lower resolution than what you’ll find on the X-T4: 2.36M dots compared to 3.69M. The camera offers a single UHS-I SD card slot and its battery is rated to 325 shots per charge.

For video shooters the X-S10 provides 4K/30p recording, as well as microphone input and headphone connection via adapter. Flat F-Log recording is supported but, unlike the X-T4, footage can only be captured internally at 8-bit 4:2:0, though it can be recorded externally at 10-bit 4:2:2.

The Fujifilm X-S10 is scheduled to arrive in November for $ 1000 body-only, $ 1400 for XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 kit, or $ 1500 for XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR kit.

Fujifilm Introduces X-S10 Mirrorless Digital Camera

Up to 6.0-stops of In-Body Image Stabilization in a compact, lightweight body

Valhalla, N.Y. – October 15, 2020 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced the launch of FUJIFILM X-S10 (X-S10), the newest addition to the X Series family of compact and lightweight mirrorless digital cameras. X-S10 is expected to be available in November with two lens kit options.

Equipped with key features including the 26.1MP X-TransTM CMOS 4 sensor, and the high- speed image processing engine, X-Processor 4, as well as In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), the X-S10 offers maximum functionality in a compact body.

A newly developed, smaller IBIS for its compact body

  • The camera’s IBIS mechanism is approximately 30% smaller in volume and weight than the previous, similar X Series model*1. Despite its small size, weighing just 465g (1.02lb), X-S10 delivers up to 6.0-stops*2 of five-axis image stabilization. It is also the first mid-range X Series camera to use a motion sensor retention mechanism, which is a mechanical shock absorber that guards against slight vibrations that may come from the shutter unit, adding another level of stability beyond what was previously available in X Series products to ensure that image clarity and resolution are maintained.
  • To further assist with hand-held stability, X-S10 features a large, ergonomic magnesium- alloy grip, making it easy to keep the camera stable when large lenses are mounted. The design also features a magnesium-alloy front and top-plate to keep the body rigid and robust.

Legendary Film Simulation Modes and updated AUTO functions for outstanding image quality

  • FUJIFILM Film Simulation Modes were created to celebrate the history of photographic film by digitizing some of the industry’s most iconic analog films. X-S10 features 18 Film Simulation Modes, including ETERNA Bleach Bypass, which creates a beautiful, desaturated, high-contrast look.
  • To complement these Film Simulation Modes, X-S10 also offers an updated [AUTO / SP (Scene Position)] mode that automatically adjusts shooting settings to the given scene, without the need to make further, fine adjustments in Settings. Now, photographing landscapes with clarity and vivid colors, making portraits with beautiful skin tones, and creating evenly-balanced images in back-lit conditions are possible, regardless of skill level.

Dependable AF and High-Speed Burst Mode performance for those important moments

  • The combination of X-S10’s high-speed AF and AF-tracking performance with the X- TransTM CMOS 4 sensor’s 2.16 million phase detection pixels and X-Processor 4’s computing power provides quick and accurate autofocus results, achieving focus in as fast as 0.02 seconds in some cases, even at -7.0 EV*3.
  • X-S10 is equipped with high-precision Tracking AF for moving subjects and Face/Eye AF function to track a subject’s face and eyes.
  • Offers blackout-free, high-speed burst shooting of 30fps with the electronic shutter and 8fps when using the mechanical shutter*4.

Vari-angle LCD monitor and viewfinder that supports three Boost modes

  • X-S10 has a vari-angle LCD monitor that can rotate up to 180 degrees, making it useful not only for selfies but also for stills and videos taken from various camera positions.
  • The viewfinder’s Live View function has three Boost modes available, including Low
    Light Priority, Resolution Priority Model, and Frame Rate Priority.

Extensive video-recording functions

  • X-S10 generates 4K video from the amount of data equivalent to 6K to ensure the footage is in high resolution with low noise. It supports recording 4K/30p 4:2:0 8-bit video onto an SD card inserted in the camera, and outputting 4K/30p 4:2:2 10-bit video via the HDMI port.
  • The X-S10 camera is also capable of high-speed full-HD recording at 240fps, producing up to 10x slow-motion footage of a fast-moving subject’s split-second motion.
  • In addition to X-S10’s IBIS, its Digital Image Stabilization (DIS) mode powerfully compensates for camera shake even when walking with the camera. Adding IS Mode Boost provides even more stabilization, nearly eliminating camera shake when it is used from a fixed, hand-held position.
  • With a dedicated movie recording button on its top-plate, X-S10 lets users start recording video even when the camera is set to stills mode. It will also automatically set exposure and focus settings if the camera is in an AUTO shooting mode*5.

Blackmagic Design debuts new URSA Mini Pro 12K camera and lower-cost versions of its Video Assist 3G

Blackmagic Design has taken the wraps off its new Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K digital film camera with support for recording video at up to 12K/60fps with 80MP per frame. The model is joined by a pair of new off-camera monitors from the company, the Blackmagic Video Assist 3G in 5″ and 7″ sizes.

Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K

The Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K is a digital film camera offering advanced options combined with a 12288 x 6480 Super 35 image sensor. This is the company’s third-generation model, one offering 14 stops of dynamic range, 4K/220fps Super 16 and 8K/110fps options in addition to 12K, an interchangeable lens mount and a SuperSpeed USB-C expansion port.

Blackmagic Design has packed a number of other notable features into its new pro-grade digital film camera, including built-in ND filters, an interchangeable PL mount and UHS-II SD and CFast card recorders. The company says that the Super 35 sensor found in this model is ‘optimized for images at multiple resolutions’ and that it features a unique (non-bayer) design with an equal number of RGB pixels. We’ve contact Blackmagic Design for further information on the sensor and will update with additional information when it becomes available.

Blackmagic Design has also streamlined its entire workflow to be more efficient, going so far as to demo that with the help of Apple’s Metal graphics architecture, it’s possible to edit 12K Blackmagic Raw footage directly on a MacBook Pro.

The Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K is aimed at professional productions, including use with television and movies. Videos shot in 12K Blackmagic RAW can be tweaked with multiple constant bitrate encoding and quality options. The 12K sensor enables oversampling so that users get sharp, highly detailed 4K and 8K images, giving creators a bit more freedom during post-production.

This is joined by a new film curve feature for Blackmagic Generation 5 Color Science that takes advantage of the 12K sensor color data. According to Blackmagic, this will ensure that highly saturated colors are better rendered and that skin tones are particularly ‘pleasing.’ The camera is compatible with PL cinema lenses, as well as EF and F mount lenses.

Talking about the new model is Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty, who said:

With Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K we have advanced imaging technology into a new generation where new styles of shooting will be possible. It’s not just the 12K sensor, but there is so many other innovations in this camera. From the Generation 5 Color Science, the in sensor scaling, new symmetrical color pattern, full RGB quality and of course the 12K resolution, it’s going to be exciting to see what DOPs do creatively with this technology!

Blackmagic Design is launching the URSA Mini Pro 12K this month at $ 9,995.

Blackmagic Video Assist 3G

Joining the new digital film camera is the Blackmagic Video Assist 3G, an off-camera monitor offered in 5in and 7in sizes. According to the company, Video Assist 3G is a touchscreen model offered at a lower price point than the company’s other options; it features HDMI and 3G-SDI with support for all Standard and High Definition video formats.

Likewise, Video Assist 3G has upgraded batteries compared to past models, as well as built-in scopes, a rear tally light, headphone jack and front panel speaker. Both size options feature standard SD and UHS-II SD card support — the larger model has two SD card slots so that a full card can be swapped out while recording to the second card continues.

As well, the Video Assist 3G utilizes Sony L-Series batteries and features two battery slots so that one can be swapped out with a charged battery while recording. The obvious benefit to the Video Assist 3G is that it offers a larger display than the often small screens built into cameras, giving users considerably more control over their work.

Likewise, the Video Assist has an integrated pro-grade audio recorder, exceeding the quality of many cameras while eliminating the need to tote around audio gear, though it is also possible to attach microphones to the 7-inch model via a pair of XLR inputs. In addition to the monitor’s many other features, Blackmagic has included support for several languages, including English, Spanish, German, Chinese, Russian, Japanese and more.

Blackmagic Design is now offering the Video Assist 3G monitors starting at $ 495.

Canon debuts imageProGraf Pro-300 13″ inkjet printer

Canon has announced a new small-footprint inkjet photo printer, the imageProGraf Pro-300. It produces prints up to 13 x 19″ with approximate print speeds as fast as 4 minutes and 15 seconds. The Pro-300 uses 9-color LUCIA PRO plus Chroma Optimizer ink as well as a new matte black ink for improved black density. Users can monitor print status and ink levels via a 3″ LCD. It will go on sale later this month for $ 900.

Also unveiled is the new Premium Fine Art Rough paper with a textured surface. Canon says it’s suitable for long-term storage and 25-pack sheets will cost $ 45 for letter size, $ 110 for 13 x 19″ and $ 170 for 17 x 22″. The new paper is also expected to go on sale later in July.

Panasonic Lumix S Pro 16-35mm F4 debuts in January for $1500

Panasonic has announced the Lumix S Pro 16-35mm F4, a compact wide-angle zoom for its full-frame L-mount system. The lens will go on sale early next year for $ 1500.

Optically, the 16-35mm F4 is made up of 12 elements in nine groups and includes one ED, one UHR and three aspherical elements. The 16-35 weighs 500g (17.6oz) with an overall length of about 100mm (3.9″), and offers dust and splash-resistance. Its minimum focus distance is 0.25m (9.8″), and the lens accepts 77mm filters.

The Lumix S Pro 16-35mm F4 will arrive in January 2020 alongside the also-announced 70-200mm F2.8.

Astigmatism is also corrected with an aspherical lens, achieving high resolving performance. Adoption of a double focus system suppresses fluctuation of aberration even at close distances, which results in high descriptive performance from the center to the corners over the entire zoom range despite its large aperture.

Covering from 70mm to 200mm, the use of a Teleconverter allows a maximum 280mm (1.4x, with DMW-STC14) and 400mm (2x, with DMW-STC20) super telephoto shooting*1, with maximum 480 fps focus control for high-speed, high-precision auto focus. The O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) in the lens complies with the camera’s Body I.S. and the 5-Axis Dual I.S. 2*2 makes it possible to use a 7-stop slower shutter speed*3. Adoption of a focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and accurate manual focusing.

The constant F2.8 large aperture provides smooth defocus gradation from the focus peak to the neighboring area of the image to achieve a beautiful bokeh effect as well as a rich perspective. The LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F2.8 O.I.S. also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem in all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography.

The rugged, dust/splash-resistant*4 design withstands use under harsh conditions even at 10 degrees below zero for high mobility. The filter size is 82 mm, with an 11-blade circular aperture diaphragm.

LUMIX S PRO 16-35mm F4 (S-R1635)

The LUMIX S PRO 16-35mm F4 (S-R1635) is a versatile wide zoom lens boasts high descriptive performance in both photo shooting and video recording.

Comprising 12 elements in 9 groups, the use of 3 aspherical lenses, an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens and a UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens and the optimum alignment achieves high MTF performance despite its compact size and light weight. It boasts stunningly high resolution toward the corners even at wide open as well as a beautiful bokeh, suppressing double line bokeh and vignetting.

A double-magnet linear motor is integrated for the AF actuator, featuring high power despite its small size, achieving a maximum 480 fps high-speed sensor drive. Apple debuts iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro with ultra-wide camera

Apple has unveiled the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. All three devices offer a standard 12MP camera plus, for the first time on an iPhone, an ultra-wide 13mm camera module. In addition to those two cameras, the Pro models also provide a 12MP telephoto camera. The iPhone 11 provides a 6.1″ LCD ‘XDR’ display, with the 11 Pro and Pro Max offering OLED HDR displays measuring 5.8″ and 6.5″ respectively. All three displays support P3 wide color gamut and display of HDR video content.

All three phones offer a main 12MP ‘wide’ camera with a 26mm equivalent F1.8 6-element lens and optical image stabilization. It’s a new sensor, and Apple claims it offers ‘100% focus pixels’, which suggests a dual pixel sensor with split photodiodes.

The iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Max all offer a second 12MP ‘ultra wide’ camera with a 13mm equivalent F2.4 5-element lens, which provides a dramatic wide 120 degree field of view. A new feature uses the ultra-wide camera to show you what’s beyond the frame when using the main camera, helping you decide whether to switch the wider field of view.

The 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max continue to offer the telephoto camera of previous generations. This is also a new 12MP sensor paired with a faster F2.0 lens with optical image stabilization.

All three iPhones have upgraded video capability, with the rear cameras capable of 4K 60p footage with what Apple is calling ‘extended dynamic range’ (EDR). Optical and digital stabilization work in combination for smooth footage. The front facing camera can record 4K 60p video, and can also record EDR video at 4K 30p. It’s now easier to switch from shooting photos to shooting videos: in stills mode, simply hold down the shutter to start recording a video.

Like previous models, slow motion and time-lapse modes are available. Apple claims the Pro models have all three rear cameras calibrated at the factory, so you can quickly switch between lenses when recording video and retain the same look across all cameras.

The iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max will be available for pre-order this Friday and will ship September 20th. The iPhone 11 is the most affordable of the bunch starting at $ 699; the 11 Pro and Pro Max are priced at $ 999 and $ 1099, respectively. Apple says it will keep the XR in the current lineup for $ 599.

Canon full-frame mirrorless system debuts with announcement of EOS R

Just two weeks after Nikon introduced its Z-system, Canon has joined the full-frame mirrorless club with its new RF-mount system, with the first camera being the EOS R. Canon makes very clear this is merely the first in a new system.

The EOS R features a 30.3 effective Megapixel CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 8 processor. It uses RF-mount lenses – four of which will be available at launch – with support for both EF and EF-S lenses via one of three optional adapters, which it says add capability to existing lenses. Dual Pixel AF is onboard, with a whopping 5,655 selectable points with 88% vertical and 100% horizontal coverage, plus the ability to focus down to -6EV (though this is rated with an F1.2 lens, which gives a 1.5EV advantage over brands quoting figures for F2 lenses). There’s a ‘Pupil Detection’ mode for ensuring eyes are in focus but this is only available in AF-S mode.

The camera has a native ISO range of 100-40,000 that expands to 50-102,400. The EOS R supports both Canon’s 14-bit CRW Raw format as well as the relatively new C-Raw, which offers much smaller file sizes. The fastest shutter speed available is 1/8000 sec, with an X-sync speed of 1/200 sec.

Design-wise, the EOS R is an SLR-style camera with a weather-sealed magnesium alloy body. It offers an electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 3.69 million dots, a magnification of 0.76x and a 23mm eyepoint. Its fully articulating 3.2″ LCD is touch-enabled and has 2.1 million dots. A customizable touchpad to the right of the viewfinder allows for quickly changing ISO, white balance, movie shooting and more. Canon users will be able to commiserate with Nikon owners as, like that company’s new Z-series cameras, the EOS R offers just one memory card slot, which supports UHS-II media. The camera has HDMI, USB-C, wired remote, headphone and microphone sockets. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built-in.

“Most revolutionary component isn’t camera, it’s the mount”

In terms of performance, the EOS R can shoot continuously at 8 fps in AF-S and 5 fps in AF-C ‘shooting speed priority’ mode. If you want to use ‘tracking priority’ mode in AF-C the frame rate drops to just 3 fps. The buffer is quite healthy, though, with the ability to save 47 Raw, 78 C-Raw or 100 JPEGs when shooting at full speed with a UHS-II card. It uses the familiar LP-E6N battery pack which allows for 370 shots per charge using the LCD (per CIPA standard) or 350 with the EVF. (Power save modes boost those numbers to 450 and 430, respectively.) The optional BG-E22 grip fills the battery slot but has room for two batteries: this gives you twice the battery life.

Video-wise, things are less impressive. On the plus side, you get Dual Pixel AF, even in 4K and the camera retains separate exposure and button customization settings for video. Sadly it maxes out at 4K/30p and features the same 1.7x crop that essentially reduces the camera down to sub APS-C quality and still appears to exhibit significant rolling shutter.

When it comes to capture, users can choose between ALL-I and IPB compression, with top bit rates of 420Mbps and 120Mbps, respectively. You’ll need a V60-rated SD card to get that highest bitrate but the camera can record for up to 29:59 even in 4K mode, with a large enough card. Dropping down to Full HD allows for 60 fps recording at 180 Mbps using ALL-I compression. Internal video capture is 8-bit 4:2:0. The camera can also capture Canon Log internally in 8-bit or can put out a 10-bit 4:2:2 C-Log stream over HDMI for use with an external recorder.

The camera can also record 120p footage at 1280 x 720 at a healthy 160Mbps bit rate. Recording time limits are 7.5 minutes for 120 fps shooting and just under 30 minutes for everything else.

The EOS R will be available in October for $ 2299 body only or $ 3399 with the 24-105mm F4L lens.

Optical Innovation Inspires the Next Leap Forward in Imaging

MELVILLE, N.Y., September 5, 2018 – Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the next revolution in the company’s long history of innovative and award-winning camera systems, the EOS R system featuring the newly designed RF mount. Recognizing the need to advance optical design, the Company sought to create a versatile and powerful new system that supports all current EF, EF-S, TS-E and MP-E lenses[i], and also provides the optical advancements and engineering flexibility to build upon for years to come.

When Canon set forth to develop a new interchangeable lens camera system, they focused on three core optical principles: high-image quality, high-specification performance, and compact design. Recognizing that optics is the foundation for any camera system, the RF mount was conceived to open new doors in optical design. Canon’s new RF mount features the same size diameter as the EF mount (54mm) and shorter back focus distance. This allows for lenses to sit closer to the sensor (the focal plane) and allowed Canon optical engineers to reimagine lens design utilizing larger rear lens elements to produce an image on the full-frame sensor. This new optical formula has paved the way for higher performing lenses. In addition, the Canon RF mount features a high-speed 12-pin communication system that provides faster and more in-depth communication between the camera and lens over existing Canon mount systems.

The EOS R system is designed for full, uninhibited compatibility with all existing EF, EF-S, TS-E and MP-E lenses through the use of mount adapters[ii]. In addition, through the use of the optional Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter or Control Ring Mount Adapter these lenses, in fact, gain functionality.

The First in a New System: The EOS R

The new Canon EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera features a 30.3 megapixel CMOS sensor that is powered by the Company’s latest image processor, DIGIC 8, enabling shooting at up to 8.0 frames per second[iii]. The new camera inherits a lot from Canon’s legacy in both EOS and Cinema EOS. Video storytellers can capture stunning 4K UHD video up to 30fps and record in 10-bit 4:2:2 (with an external recorder). The EOS R also comes with the ability to shoot Canon Log, providing 12 stops of dynamic range, minimal loss of detail in shadows and highlighted areas and an increased range of choices when color grading. Users with an existing collection of Canon lenses will be excited to know that all EF and EF-S lens are compatible with the camera. In order to do so, photographers and videographers can choose between using one of three new mount adapters, each uniquely designed to meet the individual needs of the user.

The new Canon EOS R camera features Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus with 5,655 manually selectable AF points[iv], supporting AF at up to f/11 with a 384 zone (24×16) real-time metering system. With f/1.2 lenses, the camera astonishingly boasts AF sensitivity in low light in as little as EV-6. When using the RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens with the EOS R, the camera can focus in as little as 0.05 seconds with Dual Pixel CMOS AF[v], making it the fastest autofocus speed in the world[vi]. These features provide photographers and videographers with Canon’s most advanced AF system to date. The EOS R also features a silent shutter setting when shooting in single-shot mode; an important feature for those who need to capture imagery without disrupting the scene. An upcoming free firmware update will enable silent shutter in continuous shooting mode as well.

Thoughts From the First Users

Users will have the option to either slide or tap the bar to gain access to the settings and adjust on-the-go as they deem necessary depending on each particular shooting situation.

Answering the demand for enhanced mobile editing of RAW image files, Canon is also announcing a new application, Digital Photo Professional Express (DPP Express). In combination with an updated Canon Camera Connect App, DPP Express enables users to send, view, edit and process CR3 RAW files on their iPad[vii]. A free download of the app will be available October 2018.

Western Digital debuts new G-Drive and G-Speed professional grade SSDs

Western Digital just revealed its new lineup of G-Technology G-DRIVE and G-SPEED external solid state drives at NAB 2018, and as you might expect, they’re built to handle ultra-high resolution video. In fact, WD claims these Thunderbolt 3 drives enable “real-time 4K and 8K workflows” for professionals who need serious speed, capacity, and reliability.

There are three new drives in all: the G-DRIVE Mobile Pro SSD, the G-DRIVE Pro SSD, and the G-SPEED Shuttle SSD.

G-DRIVE Mobile Pro SSD

The G-Drive Mobile Pro SSD aims to be one of the fastest mobile storage solutions you can bring with you in the field. Available in 500GB and 1TB configurations, this Thunderbolt 3 drive boasts read speeds up to 2800MB/s that should let you “edit multi-stream 8K footage at full frame rate, quickly render projects and experience them at full resolution, and transfer as much as a terabyte of media in seven minutes.”

The most portable of today’s announcements, the drive has also been built to be rugged. The derive uses “specially engineered components” for its shock-resistant design, and the aluminum core is meant to prevent overheating.

G-DRIVE Pro SSD

The G-DRIVE Pro SSD, as the name suggests, is the Mobile Pro’s big brother. Like its younger sibling, it features a Thunderbolt 3 connection (actually two of them) and can transfer data at up to 2800MB/s. Thanks to the dual-connection, however, you can daisy chain up to 6 of these bad-boys together and stack them on your desk like Jenga pieces.

Since this is a desktop solution, it’s not built with the same shock-proof design as the Mobile Pro, but the G-DRIVE Pro SSDs do boast enterprise-class solid state drives with an endurance rating of one drive write per day.

These drives will be available to US consumers starting in May, and will come in capacities of 960GB, 1.92TB, 3.84TB, and 7.68TB for $ 1,400, $ 2,100, $ 4,100, and $ 7,600, respectively. Just for fun we did the math: if you daisy chain six of the 7.68TB drives together, you will have spent $ 45,600 for 46.08TB of solid state storage.

G-SPEED Shuttle SSD

Finally, the biggest and baddest of the drives released today (if you can call this a “drive”) is the G-SPEED Shuttle SSD: an enclosure that comes with eight removable SSDs pre-loaded and configured in RAID 5. This is meant for “ultra-demanding” workflows like multi-stream HD, 4K, 8K, VR and VFX backup and editing.

The G-SPEED Shuttle SSD comes with up to 16TB of storage (eight, 2TB drives pre-loaded) and can be configured to run hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, and 50. And, like the G-DRIVE Pro SSD, the G-SPEED features two Thunderbolt 3 connection that max out at 2800MB/s and can be daisy chained with up to five additional devices.

The G-SPEED Shuttle SSD will arrive on store shelves in the US this month, and can be purchased in either 8TB or 16TB configurations for $ 5,100 and $ 7,600, respectively. That means the same $ 45,600 mentioned above will buy you 96TB of solid state storage if you go with the G-SPEED Shuttle.

LURVIG for Pets: IKEA Debuts its First Line of Animal Furniture & Accessories

Made to be compatible with other IKEA furnishings and fixtures, this new first-of-its kind pet collection has something for all your favorite furry friends.

The 62-piece collection was designed by Inma Bermudéz and aims to fill a market gap with quality, aesthetically pleasing but affordable pet products.

Some of the objects extend existing uses, helping customers save money and space, like kitty-scratching materials that attach to existing IKEA table legs or puppy beds that slot into bookshelf systems already on offer.  A number of the products are designed to pack flat and fold away when not in use.

The designs reflect extensive research into pet needs and behaviors, including a bed designed to be stuffed with old clothes, blankets and towles to help dogs feel comfortable and familiar around their human family.

Aside from pet sleepers and carriers, the LURVIG line features an array of brushes, bowls, leashes, bag dispensers spanning eating, playing, sleeping, traveling, walking.and other cat and dog activities.

Perhaps the biggest surprise in this stellar new collection is that no one at IKEA thought to do this sooner — thankfully, now they have.

Humans of New York is turning into a TV series on Facebook, debuts next week

Brandon Stanton, the photographer behind the wildly successful website-turned Facebook page-turned Best Selling Book “Humans of New York” surprised everyone today with a bombshell announcement. For the past 4 years, he’s been quietly filming over 1,200 personal interviews with his portrait subjects, and he’s turning those interviews into a HONY TV series starting next week.

The series was created in conjunction with cinematographer Michael Crommett, and the official announcement and trailer went live just 20 minutes ago on the Humans of New York Facebook Page.

“Early on I realized that video would add a deeper layer to Humans of New York. At the heart of all these posts are the conversations themselves,” writes Stanton. “I’m often deeply moved by the people I meet. Or they make me laugh. Or they make me think. And I always do my best to recreate the experience through photos and words. But I always knew that video would provide the closest thing to ‘actually being there.’”

Inspired by this realization, he began filming interviews… many many interviews. But instead of posting them one day at a time as he has been doing with his photos, he held onto them in the hopes of creating something special down the line. Down the line has finally arrived.

“My goal was not to make a television show based on Humans of New York. I wanted the television show to *be* Humans of New York,” explains Stanton. “I think I came pretty close. And I think/hope you will love it.”

Canon debuts EOS M6 mirrorless with optional EVF

Canon’s newest mirrorless camera, the EOS M6, is a replacement for the entry-level EOS M3 and slides in directly under the enthusiast M5 (confused yet?).

It shares essentially all of the M5’s internal components, including the 24MP APS-C sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, Digic 7 processor and 3″ touchscreen. It’s also capable of 1080/60p video capture and has Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth.

Differentiating factors between are limited to the built-in EVF on the M5 and the flip-up selfie screen on the M6. The M6 gains an additional top plate control dial compared to the M3, which should improve handling.

Canon also announced an optional EVF (the EVF-DC2) for use with the M6. This 2.36M-dot EVF is smaller and lighter than the EVF-DC1 used by the M3, but do note that it does not tilt upward.

The Canon EOS M6 will go on sale in April 2017 in both black and silver. It will sell for $ 780 body-only, with the EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM for $ 900 or with the EF-M 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM for $ 1280. The EVF-DC2 is priced at $ 250 and also comes in black and silver.

The Canon EOS M6 features an in-camera five-axis digital image stabilization to help reduce camera shake when shooting videos.
