Leica has just introduced the Q (Typ 116), a full-frame compact camera with a fixed, stabilized 28mm F1.7 Summilux lens. It offers a 24MP CMOS sensor and a 3″ 1.04M dot touch-sensitive LCD. A built-in LCoS EVF offers an equivalent resolution of 3.68MP, and the Q skips a built-in flash but provides a standard hot shoe. Video recording at 1080/60p and built-in Wi-Fi are also offered. Leica has announced the forthcoming availability of its fastest ever 28mm lens for the M-system of rangefinder cameras. The Leica Summilux-M 28mm F1.4 ASPH will arrive in stores from June 22nd, and will be priced at £3975/$ 5950. Read more

Three full-frame prime lenses on Sony’s lens roadmap officially arrived today which, including the 24-240, brings the total number of FE lenses to eleven. The least expensive of the trio is the 28mm F2 lens, which also supports ultra-wide and fisheye adapters. Next is the long-awaited Zeiss 35mm F1.4 ZA, which is Sony’s fastest FE lens to date. Close-up shooters will be interested in the new 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS lens, which uses a Direct Drive SSM mechanism for ultra-precise focusing. More details here.

the first thing i filmed on my new camera. i love the 60D!!! the articulating screen on it is amazing for getting those low shots. I put it on my monopod upside down and flipped the screen out so i could see what was in focus. stephendiaz.com
