Price released for Brikk’s 24k gold Nikon Df

Luxury goods brand Brikk has released the price of its forthcoming ‘Lux Nikon kit’ that has been finished in its trademark yellow gold and which will be on sale this month. Set to cost $ 41,395, the kit will include a gold plated Nikon Df body, a Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 lens with gold plated lens cap and lens hood, together with the usual charger, cables and software, and will come in a specially made gold plated Zero Haliburton hard case. Read more

Nikon releases Capture NX-D 1.0.3 and View NX 2.10.2

Nikon has released updated versions of its image processing software, bumping its Capture NX-D software to version 1.0.3 and View NX software to version 2.10.2. Both updates introduce a number of bug fixes for Windows and Macintosh platforms. Learn more

Nikon D750 real-world samples gallery posted

Nikon’s newest full frame camera, the D750, made its debut at Photokina this year. It borrows features from the D810 and combines them with a 24MP sensor, boasting a comprehensive video and still photo feature set. We’ve had access to a full production unit long enough to put together a gallery of real world sample images. See gallery

Nikon offers 1.5 million Yen in kit and cash as top prize in annual photo contest

Nikon has opened the doors to entries for the company’s annual photo contest, and is offering a top prize of 1m Yen (approx. $ 9200/£5600/€7100) in equipment with 500,000 Yen cash for the overall top prize. Running since 1969 the competition this year will feature 7 categories including a new ‘Home’ theme and a ‘Generation N’ section for 10 entrants aged 19 and under. Learn more

Photokina 2014: Nikon interview – ‘large-sensor mirrorless could be a solution’

When we visited Photokina last week in Germany we made time to sit down with senior executives from several camera manufacturers. Among them was Toshiaki Akagi, Department Manager in Nikon’s 1st Designing Department. Photokina 2014: Nikon stand report

We swung by Nikon’s Photokina 2014 stand to see the new D750 in action and investigate what else they have in store for show attendees. The booth itself is a bit less flashy than some of the competitions, and distinctly lacking in cars and ladies wearing sequins, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t make an impression.

Nikon announces SB-500 Speedlight for stills and video

Nikon rounds out its Photokina announcements with the SB-500 Speedlight, a compact flash with a built-in LED for use while recording video. With coverage for a 24mm lens on an FX camera or a 16mm lens on DX, the SB-500 has a guide number of 24m at ISO 100. Read more

Nikon announces AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED

Nikon has launched the AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED for FX and DX format Nikon cameras. It updates the existing AF Nikkor 20mm f/2.8, which lacked an internal focus motor for use with entry-level Nikon DSLRs. Using 13 elements in 11 groups, it features a Nano Crystal Coat and offers a minimum focus distance of 0.2m. The AF-S Nikkor 20mm f/1.8G ED will be available in September for $ 799.95. Read more

Fast and full-frame: Nikon announces 24MP Nikon D750

Nikon has released the enthusiast-focused D750, a 24MP full-frame DSLR which sits between the D610 and D810 in the company’s lineup. The D750 offers an improved version of the 51-point AF system from the D810, a 6.5fps maximum frame-rate, plus built-in Wi-Fi and a vari-angle LCD. Video features are lifted directly from the D810 and include 1080/60p recording and full manual exposure control. Read more
