Special FX: Nikon D750 First impressions review

The D750 is Nikon’s latest FX format camera, which borrows features from the D810 and marries them with a 24MP sensor, offering a faster frame-rate than any non-professional full-frame Nikon DSLR. Aimed squarely at enthusiasts and full-frame upgraders the D750 boasts a comprehensive video and still photography specification which includes a tilting rear LCD screen and (on paper) an improved version of the 51-point AF system found in the D810. We’ve been using a pre-production camera for a few days – click through for our first impressions.

Nikon releases D4S firmware C:1.10

Nikon has issued a firmware update for the D4S. The long list of improvements included in this firmware version are mostly minor bug fixes and tweaks to menus and camera operation. See the full details and get a link to download the latest D4S firmware version. Read more

Nikon announces service advisory for D810 ‘bright spots’

Nikon has announced a service advisory for the Nikon D810, in response to reports of ‘bright spots’ in images taken at long shutter speeds and in 1.2X crop mode. According to an announcement on Nikon’s website, affected cameras will be serviced free of charge. Apparently, the issue only effects cameras within a certain serial number range, and if you’re lucky enough to have got hold of a D810 already, you can check the serial number of your camera against Nikon’s database via the company’s service and support pages. Profoto confirms Nikon compatible B1 update for September

Profoto, the Swedish flash manufacturer, has confirmed that a Nikon compatible TTL remote will be available for its popular B1 off-camera flash on September 15th – just in time for Photokina. The Air Remote TTL-N will give Nikon photographers the same TTL functionality enjoyed by Canon shooters with its Air Remote TTL-C since the November 2013 launch of the B1 flash. Read more

Nikon D810: A sport photographer’s impressions

UK-based sports photographer Guy Swarbrick specializes in shooting cycling events, but this summer he got the opportunity to shoot the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow Scotland. Just before the games he took delivery of Nikon’s latest full-frame DSLR the D810, and in this article he shares his experiences of using the camera. PocketWizard Updates TTL Compatibility For All Current Canon and Nikon DSLRs

PocketWizard has announced the latest ControlTL firmware upgrade to its line of ‘Control the Light’ wireless flash transceivers and receivers, updating the MiniTT1 Transmitter and FlexTT5 transceiver and receiver units to work with all available Canon and Nikon DSLR systems. The company has also added resources to achieve a much faster turnaround on updates, as evidenced by new support for the Nikon D810, which was just announced in late June. Read more

The 36MP full frame DSLR lacks an anti-aliasing filter to make the absolute most of its high resolution sensor and provides a number of meaningful updates over the previous generation. Real-world & Studio Samples Added to Nikon D810 1st-impressions Review

Nikon’s new D810 consolidates the older D800 and D800E into a single body with no AA filter on its 36MP CMOS sensor. A few days ago we received a final production sample Nikon D810 and we’ve been shooting with it intensely ever since. As well as putting it through our initial studio testing, we’ve also taken a quick look at the effectiveness of the new electronic first-curtain shutter and created a gallery of real-world sample images to show what the camera can do. Updated: Nikon releases Capture NX-D 1.0.0 software

Nikon has released version 1.0.0 of Capture NX-D, introduced in beta form earlier this year. Capture NX-D is the first version of Nikon’s flagship Raw converter since previous developer Nik Software was bought by Google in 2012. The software features a new user interface, batch conversion and a non-destructive workflow that saves adjustments in sidecar files alongside the original image. Read more
