Canon 60D with EF 50mm 1:1.8 II Lens – Video Test September 2011

03 Jan

Drew K Forrest Camera Test Camera: Canon EOS 60D Lens: Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 II Starring: Evie McCloskey Featuring: Kaiti McCloskey, Some Frog and Drew’s Feet. It’s all footage as it came off the camera – I know the white balance is off for “the frog scene” and I don’t particularly care that a lot of it’s over exposed… Infact I kinda do care, it’s awesome…

Tidying Up Art: Messy Masterpieces Made Neat & Clean

03 Jan

[ By WebUrbanist in Art & Installation & Sound. ]

The Swiss are known for leading an orderly existence, so you can imagine their frustration at grandiose works of German art and the excesses of their French neighbors as well.

Ursus Wehrli is fighting back, organizing everything from parking lots and pine branches to alphabet soup and classic artworks of masters present and past, collected in a series of (humorous but thought-provoking) books about cleaning up all aspects of life.

No one is safe from his exacting eye, precise brushstrokes and poignant photography as he sweeps a Van Gogh bedroom scene out of sight in one stroke and crushes a Postmodern Campbell’s soup can in the next. Jackson Pollock, beware!

Not even childrens’ sandboxes or Chinese signs are safe from this process of global reorganization – but while some things gain order from the process, others (like letters) lose meaning and devolve into absurdity. Even the stars themselves are in reach.

Title: FJ40 TRT: 2:35 Category: Non-Fiction Description: The Toyota FJ40 was first produced in its raw form in 1960, and has become highly sot-after among 4 wheel enthusiasts the world over. This short film chronicles the restoration of a K beat-up old 1978 Toyota FJ40 to a mint condition restoration worth much, much, more by using time-lapse shot over an 8 week period. After spending over 9 months in body and paint, the assembly begins. The film consists of over 10000 frames and was shot all in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper was used to set the starting date and put under the vehicle to collect grease, rust, paint, oil, etc… The beginning frame and end frame demonstrate the newspapers usefulness in collecting this build cast-off and keeping the garage floor clean. Shot With the Nikon D300 and a Sony Laptop with Nikon’s Camera Control to record the time-lapse. Producer/Director – Brandon Klock Restoration – Paul Shust Editor – Jesee Jones

iPhoneography On Your Blog With SlideDeck

03 Jan

SlideDeck is a really cool WordPress plugin for photographers where users can create sliders and add them to a website using shortcodes and widgets.

What makes SlideDeck even more useful for photographers is the ability to aggregate content from social sources, like Instagram.

slidedeck-01

As you can in the screenshot, there are quite a few social sources.

One of my favorites is the Instagram source so iPhoneographers can easily share their iPhonegraphy with website visitors in a beautiful slider.  You can see the feature in action at my Self Portrait Friday article.

There is a free “lite” version of SlideDeck available so I recommend downloading and taking it out for spin.  If you like what you see, pick up a paid copy for additional lenses (slide styles) and options.

Thanks for reading,

Scott
