Studio Lighting Setups for Portrait Photography

04 Jan

This begins a series of articles on studio lighting that I put together with help from Karl Leopold at ImagesForever.net in Melbourne, Florida. Karl graciously opened his studio to me and patiently went through the basics of lighting a studio portrait. [Stelka] Photostream Review

A few nice visual art images I found:

Seduced I say, hmmm provacative thing to say about someone I have never met, but true nonetheless.

Stelkas’ pictures have struck to the core of me. My poet heart. Every picture in her stream is a visual poem. I could say things about technical prowess etc, but to me her storytelling and visual vignettes are what move me. Stelka draws you into her world with each shot, and reveals just a little more of herself. I find them just too darn intriguing to resist.

So now I have a platonic photographic, intellectual, heart rending crush on her and her art.

Visit her stream and see if you can resist, I bet you can’t.

Adrift in Manhattan

04 Jan

From award winning director Alfredo De Villa comes a moving and heart wrenching film centering on a beautiful and mysterious doctor (Heather Graham), a young photographer (Victor Rasuk) who becomes infatuated with her, and her patient (Dominic Chianese), a painter going blind. A sexy and suspenseful ride through the city — Adrift in Manhattan is an intricately woven, award winning film that critics have been raving about!

Driving across Australia in a Mercedes W123

04 Jan

My trip accross Australia (Jan 2010) from Perth to Melbourne, in our 1985 Mercedes 230e. Many of the sites are familiar to us Aussies and I didnt think needed any titling. The car averaged overall about 10-11L/100kmh of 98 octane with two male passengers and fully loaded (as moving home!). The final pic shows the overal trip stats, although the fuel cost was not correct. The thunderstorm was just over the SA border from WA. Video (low quality) was with a small Canon IXUS and the still shorts were mainly with a Nikon D90 and 18-200. The clip is an old Australian classic by Icehouse, Great Southern Land.
