Sling-O-Matic Product Features

20 Dec

Think Tank Photo introduces the Sling-O-Matic Series, the photo industry’s first selection of sling bags that can be easily switched back and forth to either shoulder. The Sling-O-Matic’s adjustable, fully padded shoulder strap “automatically” slides along a set of rails to change which shoulder the bag can be worn on. This is the innovative solution to the problem inherent with other sling bags: only being designed to wear the sling bag over the same shoulder. With one smooth motion, the Sling-O-Matic can be quickly switched to the opposite shoulder without losing the characteristics that have made sling bags popular among photographers. The Sling-O-Matic series offers three unique bags to choose from, depending on the set of photo gear a photographer needs to carry. In this video, freelance photographer Laura Morton demonstrates key features of the Sling-O-Matic 20. To see more of Laura’s work, please link to www.lauramortonphoto.com

Gurkenscheiben mit feinen Möhrchen

20 Dec

Brookstone HDMI Pocket Projector Vs 3M Streaming Projector ROKU

20 Dec

This is a video to compare these two pico projectors. Both come with 0 price tags and 480p native resolution. Battery life of each just under 2hrs for the Brookstone where the 3M comes in around 1:40min. The 3M is a first of its kind to be truly portable with its inclusion of ROKU’s new streaming stick. Both are bright but Brookstone’s image quality does best the 3M..

Aussies: Do You Want to Attend a dPS Portraits Workshop?

20 Dec

Do you live in or near Melbourne Australia (or are able to get there)? If so – we’re thinking of holding our first dPS photography workshop in 2013. The topic will be ‘Taking Great Portraits’ and the in structure is a leading Aussie portrait photographer.

We’re still finalising the details but to help us plan we’re looking to see what level of interest there would be in such an event.

If you’re interested in attending workshops and live in or can get to Melbourne please leave your email address below.

It will help us get an idea of the level of interest but will also enable us to shoot you an email in the new year with information on what we’re planning.

If you’re not in Melbourne – stay tuned – we’d love to take these workshops on the road at a later time.

The Moon – T2i Test: Movie Crop Mode

20 Dec

I decided to test the Movie Crop Mode (640×480) on my T2i (550d). The lens that I used was my Canon EF-S 55-250mm at 250mm/F5.6 with a shutter speed of 800 and ISO at 200. Considering it is VGA quality (640×480), the quality is quite acceptable. I know it’s not HD, but I am thoroughly impressed.

An American Puzzle
visual art

An American Puzzle, 2006, wood and metal type by Lloyd G. Schermer

Lloyd Schermer created An American Puzzle out of antique printing type, advertising plates, and engravings created for mastheads. Some of the type blocks are as much as two hundred years old and include carved maple, birch, ebony, walnut and mahogany, as well as forged metal pieces. In 1964, when Schermer’s newspaper in Missoula, Montana, converted from typeset printing to offset lithography (which uses photography to transfer the image of each page of a newspaper), he salvaged much of the old type and stored it in his home until he could decide what to do with it. Almost thirty years later, Schermer began working with the type, using a strong solvent to clean the ink from the typeface, then waxing and buffing the sculptural bits before mounting them to a support. An American Puzzle is a richly abstracted field of shapes that evokes an archaeological remnant, a layer of history rescued from a "dig." It suggests the visual impact of the printed page as well as the thousands of voices that contribute to a community’s history over the generations. Schermer has served on several boards within the Smithsonian, and the wide variety of elements in this piece reflects the broad interests of the institution as well as the artist’s memories of the publishing business.

“I give you… the future”
visual art
He didn’t really say that. Tenori-on is the musical+visual instrument he is developing with Yamaha. He has taken 4 years to bring Tenori-on to fuition (this is the second prototype), and he reckons it might be in production in late 2006.

Four years. Compare that to three months for Elektroplankton.
