I decided to test the Movie Crop Mode (640×480) on my T2i (550d). The lens that I used was my Canon EF-S 55-250mm at 250mm/F5.6 with a shutter speed of 800 and ISO at 200. Considering it is VGA quality (640×480), the quality is quite acceptable. I know it’s not HD, but I am thoroughly impressed.

can you do it with a t1i?
A better solution would have been to close the aperture a bit. That way it would have been even sharper. I have the same stuff (550d + 55-250 is) and i noticed that at it’s longest focal lenght you get maximum sharpness at about f8
Amazing what kind of camera you can get for $1000 these days (including that lens)… Nice Video!
how did you do it ?? how is movie crop mode is done, ?? im new in photography and i just had my rebel t1i with 75-300mm lense.
Wow, this has a crazy zoom on it!, you can see the Moon with this!!?? nuts! 🙂
Great man. I also need to have lens kit now.
so that I didn’t overexpose it, otherwise it was overblown.
I’m just as impressed as you.
Quite nice.
I’m curious why you used a shutter speed of 800?
Great video! I must try this when my 550d arrives…altho my telescope is for that really…maybe i’ll use both together 🙂
I enjoyed watching this…I filmed a short called “A New York Minute” with a T2i. You can view it on my page!! Enjoy!!
Please share!
I agree. If you’re lucky you can even see black pixels fly across you vision of the moon. Those are satellites and they tend to fly by at the same inclination as the moon itself. Very interesting and a great powerful camera for its price!
🙂
thanks :)))
