30 Oct

Add a new realm to gaming with XFX Radeon HD 6870 and 6850 graphics cards – play in a new dimension. This new series of AMD Radeon graphics cards incorporates the anticipated release of a 3-D gaming and a multi-media solution for desktop computers. The 6800 series is the first and only HDMI 1.4a solution for Stereoscopic 3-D on the market. These DirectX 11-capable, 1 GB DDR5 ram cards are muscle enough for even the most hungry gamer and can perform in the most intense of gaming scenarios. With the added benefit of XFX 3E Technology – a new trilogy that incorporates AMD Eye-Definition, AMD Eyefinity and AMD Eyespeed, you just might be unstoppable.

Description For best viewing, watch the video full screen and in 480 pixelmode. To see the images in 3D, hold your head up straight (very important or the two images won’t line up properly), look at the vertical center line and cross your eyes. The 3D image will appear in the middle. If you don’t see the 3D picture right away, keep trying, it takes a bit of practice. I think my dragon is a bit neurotic – he has a nervous tic in one of his claws.

Using Nikon Capture NX2 as a JPEG (or TIFF) Editor

30 Oct

Use NX2 to edit JPG (or TIFF) photos from any camera, not just Nikon. No need to use Photoshop or other complex image editors. Save .JPG (or .TIF) as .NEF to store all editing steps safely and separately with versioning. Easily output .NEF back to .JPG (or .TIF) for web upload or printing. I’m using NX2 v2.2 and Nik Efex Pro 3.0 for special effects.

See all 11 parts!!! Arguably the most intelligently written film to feature the masterful stop-motion animation of Ray Harryhausen, Jason and the Argonauts is a colorful adventure that takes full advantage of Harryhausen’s “Dynarama” process. Inspired by the Greek myth, the story begins when the fearless explorer Jason (Todd Armstrong) returns to the kingdom of Thessaly to make his rightful claim to the throne, but the gods proclaim that he must first find the magical Golden Fleece. Consulting Hera, the queen of gods, Jason recruits the brave Argonauts to crew his ship, and they embark on their eventful journey. Along the way they encounter a variety of mythic creatures, including the 100-foot bronze god Talos, the batlike Harpies, the seven-headed reptilian Hydra, and an army of skeletons wielding sword and shield. This last sequence remains one of the finest that Harryhausen ever created, and it’s still as thrilling as anything from the age of digital special effects. Harryhausen was the true auteur of his fantasy films, and his brilliant animation evokes a timeless sense of wonder. Jason and the Argonauts is a prime showcase for Harryhausen’s talent–a wondrous product of pure imagination and filmmaking ingenuity.

Nikon D90 in Hawaii – Jasin Boland

Movie stills photographer Jasin Boland shows off the Nikon D90’s HD video function while on a family holiday in Hawaii. See more @ My Nikon Life: mynikonlife.com.au

As an example of the Nikon D90:s low light film capabilities, I shot this clip entirely during sunset and after (9.30pm to 10.30pm). The scene with the moon should be at ISO3200 and I was using the Nikkor 18-200 VR set to 200mm and aperture f/5.6, some noise there. I visited the same place two nights in a row for this movie, the location is Ersdalen, Hönö island, Sweden. There is sort of a cave right there where I could find shelter against the enormous waves and airborne ocean foam. The camera was at risk 😉 I used a Cokin P121 gradual ND for most of the footage and just the 18-200 VR, no primes. No video adjustments or affects has been added to the clips in post processing. The seagull shouting was recorded during the shoot using a Zoom Handy H2 stereo recorder.
