Ricoh announces new service and support plan for Pentax 645Z

Ricoh Imaging US has announced the Medium Format by PENTAX Advantage Program, a new support and service offering for the Pentax 645Z camera. Under this program, camera owners are given three years of extended service and support from the date of purchase, as well as loaner lenses and camera bodies and a toll-free support number. Western Digital announces plan to acquire SanDisk

Yesterday, Western Digital announced plans to acquire SanDisk Corporation, a company that specializes in memory chips and SD cards. According to a statement released on Wednesday, WD will purchase all of SanDisk’s shares in a deal totaling about $ 19 billion; a combination of cash and stock will be paid. Read more

Surprise! Sony announces RX1R II with 42MP sensor and EVF

Sony has announced its Cyber-shot RX1R II, an update to 2013’s RX1 and RX1R full-frame, fixed-lens compact cameras. The RX1R II brings a 42.4 Megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor borrowed from the a7R II, 35mm F2 Zeiss Sonnar T* lens, retractable viewfinder, variable low-pass filter and greatly improved autofocus. Read more

ZEISS announces Otus 1.4/28, third lens for Otus series

German optical manufacturer Zeiss has announced it is to introduce a wide angle to its Otus family of lenses designed for full frame SLR cameras. The Zeiss Otus 1.4/28 is a 28mm lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.4, and will be available with ZE and ZF.2 mounts for Canon EOS and Nikon F cameras. Read more

Voigtlander announces three new extreme wide-angle lenses for Sony E-mount

Voigtländer has introduced three new lenses that will be released in Spring 2016: the 10mm F5.6 Hyper-Wide-Heliar, 12mm F5.6 Ultra-Wide-Heliar, and 15mm F4.5 Super-Wide-Heliar. All three lenses will feature a Sony E-mount for use with full-frame Sony cameras sans an adapter. Read more

Google announces Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones

Google has today launched two new Nexus showcase-devices, giving consumers more choice in terms of device dimensions after last year’s 6-inch Nexus 6 wasn’t universally well received for its large size, among other reasons. The Nexus 5X is made by LG and seen as an upgrade to the original Nexus 5 from two years ago, and the Nexus 6P is made by Huawei. Read more

Olympus announces details of major firmware updates for E-M1 and E-M5 II coming November

Olympus unveiled the details of two fairly significant firmware updates, both of which will be available for download, for free, come November. National Portrait Gallery announces shortlist for Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize

Epson UK announces SC-P400, the smallest and lightest A3+ pigment printer on the market

Epson UK has announced a further model to the SC range of A3+ printers with the SC-P400, a printer it claims is smaller and lighter than any other A3+ pigment inkjet machine. Although no pricing has been released, the new model is said to be part of an ‘affordable’ package that includes the lowest cost pigment ink-set on the market. Read more
