The Luminous Landscape – What’s New

You’re welcome to photograph one of them or a group – either in a posed setting, candidly, in an environmental portrait or in any way that suits you (and them).

Family: Weekly Photography Challenge
In meinem Posteingang landen täglich viele Anfragen. Ich sehe mir jede an, auch wenn ich meist leider nicht genug Zeit finde, ausführlich zu antworten. Oft stelle ich die Links und Hinweise dann einfach in unserer Linksammlung, den browserFruits, vor. Photocircle möchte ich jedoch einen eigenen kleinen Artikel widmen, weil ich die Idee richtig gut finde und mich das Konzept überzeugt.
Was ist die Idee? In Kurzform: Viele Fotografen profitieren auf Reisen von den Portraitierten, können aber selten etwas zurückgeben. Wer bei Photocircle sein Foto zum Verkauf anbietet, unterstützt im Verkaufsfall ein Projekt aus vielleicht genau der Region, in der es entstand. Photocircle stellt das Konzept in einem schönen, kurzen Video vor:
Jeder Fotograf entscheidet selbst über die Marge seines Bildes und den Spendenanteil. Die Mitgliedschaft bei Photocircle ist dabei völlig kostenlos. Wenn Ihr Euch also gerade an Eure letzte Reise erinnert, bei der Ihr dieses eine großartige Foto gemacht habt, schaut Euch die Seite doch etwas genauer an und regististriert Euch.
Aber auch, wenn Ihr keine Fotos habt oder einreichen wollt, lohnt sich ein Blick, denn die Galerie zeigt qualitativ sehr hochwertige Bilder aus der ganzen Welt. Dafür, dass das auch so bleibt, sorgt eine Jury, die die Bilder vor der Veröffentlichung sichtet.
Nach dem Kauf eines Bildes auf Leinwand, Alu-Dibond oder Acrylglas könnt Ihr selbst entscheiden, welchem Projekt der Spendenanteil zukommen soll und Ihr seht auch, wieviel Geld noch zur Beendigung des Projektes fehlt.
Durch die Projektunterstützung konnte Photocircle zum Beispiel bereits einer Familie in Myanmar Jungschweine und einer Familie im Niger Ziegen zum Aufbau einer Tierzucht kaufen. In Bangladesh konnten sie fünf Mädchen den Besuch der Grundschule ermöglichen. In Indonesien haben sie die Patenschaft für einen Orang-Utan-Waisen übernommen. In Berlin unterstützt Photocircle die Kulturloge und die Schülerpaten Berlin. In Indien, Brasilien, Ägypten, Kolumbien und Haiti Patenkinder.
Die angebotenen sozialen Projekte werden von Partnerorganisationen wie zum Beispiel Plan international, der UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe oder der Deutschen Aids-Stiftung durchgeführt.

Erdbeeren und Spargel zusammen in einem Salat – das kennt man schon. Aber auch ganz minimalistisch ergebeben diese beiden ohne weitere Nebendarsteller ein tolles Geschmackserlebnis, das nicht nur durch seine farblichen Kontraste besticht.
Im Juni den endlich richtig warm werdenden Sommer mit einer Gartenparty feiern? Wir sind dabei. Und hier kommt ein passendes Dessert zum Anlass: Frisch, fruchtig, gleichzeitig herzhaft und zu allem Überfluss auch noch leicht und gesund.
Portionen: 1 Portion
Zubereitungszeit: 10 Minuten
Zutaten
120g frischer, grüner Spargel
150g Erdbeeren
Olivenöl zum Braten
Salz, Pfeffer
Zubereitung
Den Spargel waschen, abtrocknen und gegebenenfalls ein, zwei Zentimeter holzige Enden entfernen. Die Spargelstangen diagonal in dünne, längliche Scheiben schneiden. Etwa fünf Minuten in einer Pfanne scharf anbraten. Mit Salz und Pfeffer würzen, insbesondere an letzterem nicht sparen!
Bis der Spargel gar, aber noch bissfest ist, die Erdbeeren in dünne Spalten schneiden. Die Pfanne von der Hitze nehmen und die Erdbeeren nur ganz kurz in der Pfanne mit dem Spargel vermengen.
Sofort servieren und noch warm genießen. (Und für Pfefferempfindliche ein Taschentuch bereitlegen.)
Fotorezept
Um den kräftigen Farben von Spargel und Erdbeeren nicht die Show zu stehlen, habe ich einen groben weißen Stoff als Untergrund gewählt. Dieser leuchtet die Arrangements gleichzeitig wie ein Reflektor von hinten auch gut aus. Damit es nicht zu puristisch wird, dazu Großtante Annelieses altes Teeservice.

Social media was invented to bring people closer, but the more antisocial among us can use it in a different way: to avoid the people we know. ‘Hell is Other People‘ is an interactive smartphone app that will show you exactly where your friends are based on Foursquare check-ins, and provide ‘safe zones’ where you can hang out without fear of being recognized.
Using the GPS function on your phone and your contacts’ public check-ins or location updates on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and other social media, the app will show you yellow points on a map that indicate where your friends are. The green points represent ‘safe zones.’
Of course, the map only works if your friends are avid social media users, checking in to virtually every place they go, and you still run the risk of running into them when they’re in route. You also might be relegated to unexpected places in the city. But as creator Scott notes in the video, “It’s kind of nice that I’ve been pushed into parks.”

Transformation: Sunset Rainbow over Yosemite National Park
30 minutes of amazing transformation is all it took to change a drab gray stormy view of Yosemite’s Half Dome and Nevada Falls into a dynamic fiery rainbow filled scene. Literally in the 11th hour after a full day of foggy and overcast weather I witnessed a sunset like I’ve never seen anywhere in all my travels.
As if scripted, storm clouds rose above Yosemite Valley and were illuminated by a thin pipe of sunset light. Just as the intensity of the red light was about to peak the clouds exploded into downpour. This cloudburst in combination with the suns last gasp of light created the largest rainbow I’ve ever seen. Even with a Zeiss 15mm ultra-wide lens I was only able to photograph a third of it. This sunset was easily the most stunning I’ve yet to witness.
