"RADIO FOREST (2005/2009) – AMY FRANCESCHINI & STIJN SCHIFFELEERS / KOEN DEPREZ
Radio Forest was initially developed as a radio station where one could broadcast the moods of the wood. Koen Deprez transformed the small building. He just sliced it and placed a glass border in between. In this way, Radio Forest became a real station for creative workshops in Klankenbos as well as a display window fo

Amy Franceschini (US) founded Futurefarmers, a co-op including a design studio and an international artist in residence program. Stijn Schiffeleers (BE) reveals the subtleties of life. He is cofounder of Boutique Vizique.

Koen Deprez (BE) gives rise to architecture, design, exhibition outline, etc. His projects are consequently obvious, but radical at the same time. Typical for him are chic material choices, concepts emerging from literature, shapes revealing craftsmanship, …"

"In Klankenbos (Sound Forest) contemporary artworks produce sounds. Not only are your ears stimulated, you’d better keep your eyes open as well, for the sound installations are fascinating visual artworks which deserve to be looked at. Thus Klankenbos is a special auditory and artistic open air experience, inviting you along a promenade walk at the Provincial Domain Dommelhof in Neerpelt. With its ten stationary and three mobile sound installations Klankenbos is quite unique in Europe."

Trash Chaos Vessal– “What Lies Within 01
visual art
This series of art is a commentary about society: our over stimulating culture, bombardment of visual "noise" and attention deficits, as well as being graphic, eye catching conversation pieces made from trash usually thrown out in the garbage.

browserFruits Dezember #3

17 Dec

Dezember.

Videos

Joel Meyerowitz spricht hier über sein Lebenswerk „Taking My Time“ und erklärt, wie er dazu kam. Sehr sehenswert.

Bon Iver – Skinny Love (Acoustic Guitar Cover)

17 Dec

A cover of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love; just the guitar, no vocals (I can’t sing, haha). You can sing whilst you watch it.. Video is from a Nikon D5000. Audio is from my iPhone 4 sitting in front of the Guitar. The guitar is a 30 year old Yamaha FG-375S with D’addario Electric Guitar strings. Apologies for the camera work, I had hoped the first few frets would be clearer in the video. I edited it together using Final Cut Pro. Please rate and comment, Thanks!

Nikon 70-210mm f/4 AF Lens Review and Recommendations

17 Dec

Please rate, subscribe, and comment, as this helps me to keep bringing you reviews. A quick review of the Nikon 70-210mm f/4 AF Lens made in the mid-1980’s. This lens received a rave review from Ken Rockwell and since has skyrocketed in price. I agree with what his review says in that this lens is not worth what some people are asking. I paid around 130 dollars from www.KEH.com and I’ve loved it for everything from sports to weddings and portraits. If you’re looking for super speedy autofocus, go for either the 80-200 AF-D f/4.5-5.6 or the 80-200mm AF-D 2.8 or any of the AF-S versions. They all autofocus faster, but only the AF-S and 2.8 AF-D are any sharper. This is an amazing lens for the price. If you have a D7000, D300, D300s, D700, D800, D800E, D3, D3s, D3x, or D4, you will get better performance than with an older body because you get some corrections built in to the camera you would otherwise have to do in post-processing. This enhances the sharpness a bit. I recommend this lens to anyone with a semi-professional or professional body, because anything else either will barely autofocus or it won’t at all with this lens. The quality is superb and the photos this lens is capable of will amaze you, provided you have the right training. Visit www.KEH.com to check out this lens, as they usually have a few in stock. Visit www.JNPhoto.biz to see many examples of photos taken by this and my other lenses on both newer and older cameras. Expect some more lens and gear reviews

"SPRINGTIME IN A SMALL TOWN (2006) – PETER BOSCH & SIMONE SIMONS
This installation is all about vibrations. Wooden boxes on springs start wobbling as soon as visitors approach. In a complex system boxes influence each other. Small changes in movement may cause completely different and unexpected soundscapes. The relation order-chaos is under scrutiny in a constant stream of changes. A powerful exp
eriment by the physician Nikola Tesla that induced a tiny earthquake, inspired the creators. Hard- and software development in cooperation with Günter Geiger.

Peter Bosch (NL) has studied psychology and sonology, while Simone Simons (NL) has specialized in audiovisual design. They have been working on autonomous “music machines” since 1990. They both live and work in Spain."

The Iron Pour has a strong history at Massachusetts College of Art, beginning as a fundraiser for the Metals Department, it has grown into a celebration of art, music, and performance. Recently, the Iron Corps., the group that organizes the event, has been working in conjunction with Eventworks, who will be kicking off their annual Art Festival. This spring, we will be invoking themes of outer space and the explosive demise of stars and planets . Aside from the spectacular sculptural performances by the Iron Corps. , activities will include face painting, fire dancing, visual shows, and four musical acts throughout the course of the night.
