cazillo.com Ever wondered how your camera’s exposure works? How to get the really shallow depth of field or stop a long jumper in mid flight? Read on! If you would like to improve your photography then you absolutely must know this, backwards, forwards and upside down. One day it should ‘just click’ and you get it, but until then watch this video a lot until you do. Your camera does a great job of calculating the exposure with its built in light meter, BUT it has no idea what type of photograph you want to create. I mention in the video in my mind’s eye I create photos in aperture priority, then transmit those settings to the camera. As you may know my primary subject matter is portraits and I prefer to have a shallow DOF (Depth of Field) and then set everything from there. ISO should be as low as possible, but not at the expense of a sharp image with a slow shutter speed. The magic number in shutter speeds is 1/60th of a second, which is usually fast enough to capture people standing still without any motion blur and will also keep camera shake to a minimum.

“Come with me…on a journey…..” ( ahhhh this Waterboys song is one of my all time favourites so it was an easy choice when it came to picking music when putting this video together.) Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to travel to Ireland….FINALLY, I made it happen 🙂 A land of uniqueness, strong identity, rugged coastlines necklaced with sandy beaches, unpolluted seas of the Atlantic ocean, ruins and archeological treasures scattered everywhere, vibrant, happy people and grandeur of epic proportions its hard not to fall in love with this country. Sadly I dont think my photographs will do justice to the beauty and vibrancy of the colours and land in which I saw, as some of them were taken while driving or on a bus – but I do hope that I have caught the essence of what makes this place so wonderfully magical, so you can enjoy it as much as what I did. I dream of the day I am able to go back… For all of the great people that I met and encountered along the way, Thank you!!! A special and very big thanks to Shane who offered and shared sooooo much valuable information with me. Thank you to Gavin Glass and his AMAZING cd Myna Birds ( the first thing I brought when I hit Dublin ..other than a pint of Guinness at the Whelans that is!! ) which ended up being played on repeat in the hire car making it the soundtrack for my trip! ) ….. and a HUGE thankyou to Mum for standing in line to get U2 tickets for me which were announced and put on sale while I was …
Here is something I’ve been working on for way too long. Since childhood I’ve wanted to create stories and make real the visions I would see in my mind as I gazed off into space. Being in my mid 20’s already and having no knowledge of 3D animation or schooling in the field kind of made me feel it was just one of those dreams that get lost as you grow old. It hit me like a ton of bricks one day. I’m not getting any younger and no one is going to make it happen for me, so get up off those backside jello pads and do something!!! I’ll spare you all the details and say I did was I could to learn what I could. Blender, being open-source was free was a great place to start, but also comes packed with difficulties and limitations. So there were no overnight miracles. Later I saw Haloid, by Monty Oum and suddenly something inside of me broke (in a good way). This one man was able to turn his visions into reality and that is something I’ve desired for ages. Over the past 2 or so years I’ve been doing my best to ask hundreds of questions without becoming annoying. He’s been so kind as to stop and give me tips and pointers I don’t think I would have gotten from anyone else. Still the journey has been slow, but thanks to him I feel I’m no longer taking baby steps. This animation is something I’ve been working on since last October. It is basically my practice pad. Throughout the entire process many obstacles had to be overcome and walls crushed to move on. In a way it is a journal I …

After Effects animation “Fireflower” a must see by Pierre Michel pierre-michel.com FIRE FLOWER: “Pierre Michels pierremichel.net/ latest film , Fire Flower, is an abstract vision of sensuality with hints of alchemical mysticism. Like Pierres other films, this project derives its power from an intense focus on texture and color backed by a dramatic soundtrack.” (motionographer) Director: Pierre MICHEL Visual effects: Pierre MICHEL Soundtrack: www.unexpectedunit.com Copyright: Pierre Michel – SCAM 2008040051 making of: studiodaily.com/main/topstory/9417.html Adobe After Effects is a digital motion graphics and compositing software published by Adobe Systems. Its main purpose is for film and video post-production. Adobe After Effects is primarily used for creating motion graphics and visual effects. After Effects allows users to animate, alter, and composite media in 2D and 3D space with various built-in tools and third party plug-ins, as well as individual attention to variables like parallax and user-adjustable angle of observation. After Effects and some non-linear editing systems (NLEs) are layer-oriented, meaning that each individual media object (video clip, audio clip, still image, etc.) occupies its own track. In contrast, other NLEs use a system where individual media objects can occupy the same track as long as they do not overlap in time. This track-oriented system is more suited for editing and can keep project files much more concise. The layer-oriented system …
