AntiVJ LAB – Stereoscopic visuals and Tracking

31 May

Single user installation developped at AntiVJ LAB in Bristol. The system is based on: – a stereoscopic display (similar to the technology used in Imax 3D). 6m x 3.40m – rear projection – a realtime 3D engine, with a dynamic stereoscopic cameras: vvvv (DirectX, GPU optimized) – a face tracking system, using an IR camera. Obviously, you can’t get the 3D (stereoscopic) effect on your computer screen, as the installation as to be experienced in front of the special screen, with polarized glasses. Project developped with support from TSB (Technology Strategy Board) and Pervasive Media studio. More details soon on lab.antivj.com http MUSIC BY: Damien Schneider – Clair Obscure soundcloud.com

My first attempt at a stereoscopic rendering from within Blender. Stare at the animation. Squint/cross your eyes until a 3rd image is created between the two. If you have trouble, try to vary the distance you sit away from the monitor/screen. 😉

42″ Philips Wow vs. 50″ Newsight Stereoscopic Displays

31 May

Two multi-view stereoscopic displays in Inition’s demo studio. Demo to give an idea of the brightness and reflectiveness differences between the two 3D displays

Grab your 3D glasses! (red-cyan) Moving holograms is not the average 3D technique that’s been around for decades. After years of research and development, we found unique techniques and workflows that allow us to do an exact reproduction of the human 3D vision. Objects and actors reach out beyond the screen and therefore attract the main attention of the audience, the whole set leaves a vivid and plastic impression without straining the spectators eyes. We will transform your screen into a 3D monitor. Keep in mind that the anaglyph quality displayed is quite low. At our 3D cinema here in Graz, we can really show you what MOVING HOLOGRAMS is. more at: www.mh3d.at

28 May

Guerrilla Squadron needs you! www.youtube.com To watch this video in 3D, cross your eyes and move closer or further away from the screen until you see what appears to be a third, 3D image in the middle. Watch in HD and Full Screen for maximum enjoyment. A one off interesting, amazing and experimental video.

High speed 240fps stereoscopic 3D digital video of two Toyota FJ Cruisers fording a puddle, and two weapons instructors firing M4 rifles from the Gryphon Group military training facility. All footage was shot in HD by Eric Deren to be viewed as slow motion video. To view this video you will need red-cyan anaglyph glasses, with the red lens on left eye. You can get a pair of 3D glasses from www.goldentheband.com If you have the correct hardware, you can view the full color version of this video in stereo at www.dzignlight.com For more information, please visit www.dzignlight.com .

Fuarukee POV in stereoscopic (cross-eye) 3D

27 May

This is a HD-POV from my NoLimits-Coaster Fuarukee. It’s recorded in stereo-3D. You don’t need any glasses! To properly view it, you have to cross your eyes until you can see a third image in the middle. Now try to focus on this image without uncrossing your eyes. For users that are new to this technique I recommend this site: www.starosta.com Fuarukee HD High Definition HighDefinition POV point of view coaster rollercoaster tycoon nolimits no limits simulation 3d cross eye crossed eyed cross-eye crosseye side by side technique stereo stereoscopic without w/ow/out any glasses

Enabling View-Dependent Stereoscopic Projection

25 May

With this work we take a first step towards an ad-hoc stereoscopic projection within real environments. We show how view-dependent image-based and geometric warping, radiometric compensation, and multi-focal projection enable a view-dependent visualization on ordinary (geometric complex, colored and textured) surfaces within everyday environments. All these techniques are accomplished at interactive rates and on a per-pixel basis for multiple interplaying projectors. Special display configurations for immersive or semi-immersive VR/AR applications that require permanent and artificial projection canvases might become unnecessary. Such an approach does not only offer new possibilities for augmented reality and virtual reality, but also allows merging both technologies. This potentially gives some application domains — like architecture — the possibility to benefit from the conceptual overlaps of AR and VR. Special thanks to the Faculty of Architecture, Bauhaus-University Weimar for their support. Bimber, O., Wetzstein, G., Emmerling, A., and Nitschke, C. Enabling View-Dependent Stereoscopic Projection in Real Environments In proceedings of International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR’05), pp. 14-23, 2005
