Samsung has officially unveiled the Galazy S4 Zoom – the nearest thing yet to a true camera / phone hybrid.  The ‘camera side’ features a 24-240mm equivalent F3.1-6.3 lens with a zoom ring around the barrel, in front of a 16MP 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor. It includes optical image stabilisation, a built-in xenon flash, ISO 100-3200, 4 fps continuous shooting, and 1080p30 HD video; images are stored to internal memeory or microSD. 11 Jun

x-vario-temp.png

Leica has officially announced its much-teased (and leaked) X Vario – the world’s first compact camera with an APS-C sensor and fixed zoom lens. Its Vario Elmar 18-46mm 1:3.5-6.4 ASPH lens offers a 28-70mm equivalent range, and sits in front of a 16.1MP CMOS sensor. Viewing is via a 920k dot 3″ LCD, or the same optional plug-in EVF as used by the M Typ 240 and X2. As we’d expect from Leica the camera has a full set of traditional analogue controls for shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation, along with a hefty price tag of £2250.

Canon announces EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM wide zoom

06 Jun

efm-11-22-news.png

Canon has announced the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM – an image-stabilized wideangle zoom for its EOS M mirrorless camera. It’s Canon’s first wide zoom with IS, promising three stops of stabilization for stills and ‘Dynamic IS’ for video. A linear stepper motor offers silent autofocus during movie shooting, and a retractable barrel design makes the lens about the same size as the 18-55mm kit zoom. It should be in shops at the end of June, at an MSRP of £379.99 / €399. A firmware update for the EOS M (v.2) will give full compatibility with the 11-22mm, and faster autofocus with all lenses.

Review: Nikon 55-200mm Zoom Nikkor Lens

24 Jan

Visit my official blog! — youngflyer12.blogspot.com This video is a review of the Nikon 55-200mm Zoom Nikkor Lens. This lens is a must have for the Nikon D60. The included 18-55mm lens does not provide the shooter with much zoom. However, this 200mm capable lens allows you to get right in on the action. The lens features Nikon’s Vibration Reduction technology in the lens to provide great optical image stabilization. Catch many more interesting videos on my channel. Enjoy!

Canon EOS 60D HD Video + Zoom H4n Audio Test

13 Jan

www.emmettlollis.com – I just got my Canon EOS 60D today. I decided to do a recording test using the 60D for video and the Zoom H4n for audio. I’m very pleased with this combination. The audio and HD video are both fantastic when combined. Yes the focus is a little blurry but I’m still learning the features. I also made some test clips at a concert tonight and that came out great as well. Be sure to visit my site and don’t forget to view this video in HD!

www.arthurwoo.com Had a chance to watch and record the band “Makru” — great music! I’ve had my Zoom h4n for a couple of weeks and it was a good test to see how the audio was coming out of the main mixing board. The quality I got on the recording was pretty good! The low end isn’t a beefy as I’d normally like. With that I would have had to use the mics on the Zoom recorder to get some of the ambient sounds, but I wasn’t able to do so due to the set up of the mixer and the outputs they had available. It was recorded to the “external” mic 1 plug on the back of the Zoom. Kit used: Canon 60D Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 LCDVF 3:2 Zoom H4N Plugged into the main output of the mixing board

Off to get some diesel with about 20 ton on board, and a practical demonstration of changing gear in a non-auto box without the clutch. Box is Scania 10 speed, 6th is generally not used though as it’s low crawler, in high range.. Warning. Please do not try this on your boss’s new rig that you never layed eyes on before….lol Mistakes at this level can be expensive, and is not recommended for the inexperienced. Try it out first on something that if it gets it’s gearbox shed all over the road it doesn’t matter. I started on a Series II Landy at 12. I also know this ol’ gal real well, we’re good pals. I was goin’ to say “Drive Safe” as a parting comment just right here, but actually that’s up to you. Remember its a non-contact sport……..xx
