Adobe announces updates exclusive to Creative Cloud members

13 Dec

Adobe has announced CS6 updates that are exclusive to Creative Cloud subscribers. Adobe Photoshop 13.1 offers among other things, the ability to apply Liquify and Lens Blur effects as Smart Objects and use conditional statements when creating Actions. However, these changes are unavailable to those who’ve bought traditional versions of Photoshop CS6, and Adobe has not said when, or even if, ‘perpetual users’ of CS6 will have access to these features. Retina Display support for Mac, also announced today, is available for all users.

Flickr brings much demanded updates to web interface and iOS app

13 Dec

Flickr has updated its web interface and released an updated version of its iOS app as it tries to reassert its relevance in a post-Instagram landscape. The refresh of the web interface sees the navigation bar at the top of the site get slimmer, to devote more page space to photos. The ‘Explore’ page has also been redesigned – taking on the full-width, large tiled design used in the ‘My Contacts’ page. Flickr has also updated its famously poor iOS app, adding processing filters and better discovery tools.

29 October, 2012 – JLM / Sigma DP1/2 Merrill Grip and Updates

29 Oct

There are a number of individuals who are CNC machinists as well as photographic enthusiast. John Milich is one such, and he has recently made available a terrific L bracket and grip for the Sigma DP1/2 Merrill cameras. I report on this here, and also provide links to new firmware for both cameras and also a much needed update to Sigma Photo Pro that just were released.

"You and Jeff did it again!  A great series of videos.

I’ve watched the earlier Camera to Print series as well as the LR 2 & 3 videos and as usual, I learned
new technique and ideas even though I’ve been behind a camera for 45 years.

Additionally, the rapport you two have is most engaging, enjoyable, and totally different than the sterile video tutorials from others (I’m afflicted with being a visual learner).

Again, a great series of videos that have helped me grow once again."

Site Updates and New Features

01 Aug

shared:DPRlogo.png

Eagle-eyed visitors will have already noticed we’ve made a few changes to the homepage and added a couple of new features (both of which are still very much at the beta stage). First (and most obvious) is the new menu bar, which we hope will make finding what you’re looking for easier and more logical – and allows us the horizontal space we need for some exciting forthcoming features. We’ve also added a comprehensive selection of software to our database and introduced a completely new feature, the Link Database. More after the jump…

07 Dec

nikon_cpp7000.png

Nikon has taken the unusual step of updating the firmware of its discontinued CoolPix P7000 enthusiast compact. Firmware v1.2 offers a broad selection of improvements and bug fixes, ranging from improved AF targeting to the correction of an error that meant the color temperature scale was reversed when correcting White Balance during in-camera Raw processing. The updated firmware can be downloaded from Nikon’s websites.
