Phase One offers XF firmware update, three new Scheider Kreuznach leaf shutter lenses

Phase One has today introduced a firmware update for its new XF system, announced in June. The update brings new tools to those using the XF with its Waist Level Finder, as well as a seismograph vibration delay mode. Additionally, three new leaf shutter Schneider Kreuznach lenses are announced. Read more

Voigtlander announces three new extreme wide-angle lenses for Sony E-mount

Voigtländer has introduced three new lenses that will be released in Spring 2016: the 10mm F5.6 Hyper-Wide-Heliar, 12mm F5.6 Ultra-Wide-Heliar, and 15mm F4.5 Super-Wide-Heliar. All three lenses will feature a Sony E-mount for use with full-frame Sony cameras sans an adapter. Read more

Corel introduces three new Pinnacle Studio 19 applications

Corel has introduced a trio of new versions of its video editing software applications: Pinnacle Studio 19 Ultimate, Pinnacle Studio 19 Plus, and Pinnacle Studio 19. A couple new features have been added to the software, including a new Multi-Camera Editor in each version of the application. In addition, the latest version offers support for 6th-generation Intel Core i7 processors. Read more

Ricoh drops GR II price $100 three weeks after announcement

Just three weeks after Ricoh announced its GR II enthusiast compact, the company has dropped the MSRP by $ 100, from $ 799 to $ 699. While we don’t why Ricoh has dropped the price, it is arguable that the minor differences between the GR II and its predecessor didn’t justify the original $ 200 price difference. Read more

National Media Museum to display three of the world’s oldest photos

08 Mar

Three photographs taken by Joseph Nicephore Niépce, a Frenchman born in 1765, will soon be exhibited by the National Media Museum. These particular images, which their creator called ‘heliographs’, were taken during the 1820s, and are part of a set of 16 image located throughout the world. All three images are said to be amongst the earliest of photographs ever taken. Read more

Kowa announces pricing for three Micro Four Thirds lens

04 Mar

Japanese optical manufacturer Kowa has released pricing for the three Micro Four Thirds lenses it first announced a year ago. The trio, Kowa Prominar MFT 12mm f/1.8, Prominar MFT 8.5mm f/2.8 and Prominar MFT 25mm f/1.8 are available now and will come in a choice of black, silver or green finishes. The lenses are all manual focus, and do not feature electrical contacts for communicating aperture or focus distance data to the camera. The company had them on show at the Broadcast Video Expo in London. Read more

The response was absolutely AMAZING with over 1,000 entries! In fact, it was so great that we here at Digital Photography School decided, again, to add a new category of winners – Honorable Mentions – and provide each Honoree with a dPS eBook of their choice. But now… onto the winners!
