Apple adds Raw support for ten cameras to Mac OS X Yosemite

Apple has released version 6.05 of Raw compatibility software for Mac OS X Yosemite. This update adds support for ten cameras including the Fujifilm X-T10, Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246), Nikon 1 J5, and Panasonic DMC-G7 to Apple’s Aperture, Photos, and iPhoto software. The download is now available in the Software Update section of the Mac App Store. See the full list of new cameras

DxO OpticsPro 10.4.2 released with Canon EOS 5DS/R support

DxO has introduced OpticsPro 10.4.2, adding Raw support for Canon’s EOS 5DS and 5DS R. Also added are 789 new camera/lens combination correction profiles. Updates for DxO FilmPack and DxO ViewPoint also make those applications fully compatible with Photoshop CC 2015. Read more

Adobe Camera Raw 9.1 adds Dehaze feature and improves X-Trans support

Adobe has released the latest iterations of its Camera Raw plug-in and DNG converter software. In addition to adding support for more cameras and lenses, this update also adds Dehaze correction as well as local B&W adjustment sliders. Adobe has also reduced ‘color blur’ artifacts in Raw images from Fujifilm X-Trans cameras. More details

Canon GPS receiver GP-E2 firmware 2.0 adds T6i/T6s (760D/750D) and 5DS/5DS R support

Canon’s external GPS receiver GP-E2 gets an update today to firmware 2.0, adding support for the Canon EOS Rebel T6s/T6i (760D/750D) and EOS 5DS/5DS R. The firmware update also fixes a couple of bugs related to the signal acquisition indicator light and the unit’s built-in memory. Read more

Apple Digital Camera Raw 6.04 extends support to Canon EOS 5DS / 5DS R and Panasonic CM1

Apple has extended system-wide Raw support for 14 additional cameras, including Canon’s newest flagship DSLRs. Digital Camera Raw 6.04 also brings Raw support to OS X Yosemite for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 smartphone, Nikon D7200 and Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II among others. Read more

Olympus offers Stylus SH-2 with Raw support

Olympus has announced an update to its Pen-like travel zoom: the Stylus SH-2. The SH-2 replaces the SH-1 with added support for Raw shooting, while maintaining the previous model’s 24x zoom (25-600mm equiv.), 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, 5-axis image stabilization and built-in Wi-Fi. Read more

Drone maker DJI announces support for Micro Four Thirds standard

Three companies joined the Micro Four Thirds system standard group this morning, including DJI, maker of both consumer and professional-level drones. JDC (GuangZhou) Optical Co., a small Chinese optics manufacturer, and Flovel Co., a Japanese optical company, both also announced support. Read more

DxO OpticsPro 10.2 adds support for Sony A7 II and Panasonic LX100

Adobe details OS support for next version of Lightroom

In a new blog post, Adobe has said Lightroom 6 will require a 64-bit operating system, meaning it will only run in 64-bit versions of Windows 7, or OS X 10.8 or newer. The announcement suggests Lightroom 6 will continue as a stand-alone application, rather than being swallowed into the company’s subscription-only Creative Cloud program. Read more
