Tutorial: How to check shutter count on your Canon EOS DSLR

07 Feb

A tutorial on how to check shutter count or actuations on your Canon DSLRs. www.sproductions.in Link to the program goo.gl Follow us on Twitter: goo.gl Please note: This is a third party program, download and install at your own risk. This works on any of the Canon DIGIC III/IV DSLRs except the 1D* series. This means it will work for the 40D, the 50D, the 450D and the 1000D. It will not work on the 1D*, 5D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 300D, 350D, and 400D and the 500D.

THIS IS FOR HP battery type of printers only. Even with a battery, some printers might not work. If this doesn’t work you may try disconnecting all the connectors on the circuit board for an hour or look for a software reset method. Even though I collect lots of HP printers as a hobby, I’m clueless about most of them. This video is how to reset the ink on your HP printer. There’s no need to dissemble the printer to get to the battery. A long pair of tweezers to pull the CMOS battery out from its casing for a short time will work just fine. Some printers may not keep time by using the battery alone. Read more at www.land.netonecom.net

I was originally working on some footage for a new time lapse video, but due to time constrains and weather I wasn’t able to complete the video on time. However, using some of my old footage i decided to mix things up a bit and make star trail time lapses out of it. (there is also some new footage in here as well) to get this effect I added the “trails” filter in Final Cut Pro 7. This video took well over 30hrs to edit, render and export, Even with my Quad-Core i7 iMac!!! All the clips shown here were shot between October 2010 and November 2011. Camera: Canon EOS 5D MK II Lens’: Canon 15mm f2.8 fisheye, Canon 16-35mm L F2.8 II, Tokina 16-28mm f2.8. 30 second exposures, ISO 3200, White Balance: 3500-4500K Music: “Sliver Of Evidence” Simon Wilkinson www.thebluemask.com Thanks For Watching!!!! Using a wired shutter release/remote trigger with the EasyTag GPS Module

25 Nov

www.easytagger.ca The EasyTag has a 2.5mm jack to pass-through remote triggers/shutter releases. This ensures that compatible Nikon DSLRs like the D200, D300/s, D700, D3s, D5000, D3100, D7000, D90, etc. do not lose any functionality when the EasyTag is plugged in, using the data connection. This gives the EasyTag a significant advantage over the di-GPS, Geometr or Nikon GP-1 modules. www.easytagger.ca There are wired, wireless and (wired) timer releases available. There is also a 10-pin adapter which allows the remote to be connected directly to Nikon 10-pin DSLRs such as the D200, D300/s, D700 and D2/3: www.easytagger.ca

Digiscoping. What Shutter Speed? Spiderhunters in Thailand

19 Nov

“All of my digiscoping photos are out of focus” is pretty much the most common thing that digiscopers say to me. This normally has very little to do with focus, and everything to do with camera shake. Camera shake is a killer, and shutter speed its blade. Now in normal daylight conditions, pretty much anyone can take a half decent (sharp) photo with a digital camera. Just keep it on that little green square (full automatic mode), and away you go. As easy as that. Digiscoping is something completely different. Focal lengths in digiscoping typically range from long (say 800mm) to the ludicrous (5000+ mm) and this brings with it a whole pile of issues. Professional telephoto photographers deal with these issues all the time and digiscoping is no different. It requires the digiscoper to commit time and energy to start to think more like a serious photographer. To understand what shutter speed, aperture, ISO and all those other fantastic things are all about. So, what shutter speed do I need to get a good, sharp digiscoping photo? This is, unfortunately, not a simple question to answer and depends on many factors including: – type of camera (DSLR with a flapping mirror, or little compact camera?), – how steady your setup and hand are (just had a Red Bull and espresso?) – how much your subject is moving (tortoise or hare?), and – luck (had to add that 😉 – DSLRs have a flapping mirror = need more shutter speed As the name suggests, DSLRs have a mirror that flaps about all over
