Lee releases pricing for SW150 Mk ll filter system

The Lee Filters SW150 Mk ll filter holder system for especially wideangle lenses is now shipping, and Lee has announced pricing for the folder, the adapter rings and the filters. The system is designed to allow filters to be held in front of the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED wideangle zoom without vignetting and uses a light seal to prevent reflections on the filter’s rear surface. Read more

Apple releases OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 update with Photos app

Apple has released the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 update, and among its features is the new Photos app that has been available to developers since February. Photos replaces Aperture and iPhoto, and is designed to work better with the company’s mobile products. Read more

Voigtlander releases price of forthcoming 10.5mm f/0.95 lens for Micro Four Thirds system

Premium optical brand Voigtländer has announced the price of the 10.5mm super wide angle lens that it first displayed at Photokina in September 2014. The Voigtländer Nokton 10.5mm f/0.95 is designed to be used with Micro Four Thirds cameras, and will be the fourth in the current line of f/0.95 lenses that the company offers. Read more

Atomos releases important firmware update for Shogun recorder

Atomos has released a major firmware update to the Atomos Shogun 4K external video recorder. The Shogun, already popular among filmmakers and professional videographers thanks to its 4K 10-bit ProRes recording capabilities, gains several important features that should appeal to motion picture shooters. The update, dubbed AtomOS6.2, adds important features such as 3D LUTs and Avid DNxHR/DNxHD recording formats. Read more

Nikon releases ViewNX-i image browsing software

As promised earlier this month, Nikon has made its ViewNX-i software available for download today today. Building on the camera maker’s previous View NX 2 software, the new application works in conjunction with Nikon’s NX-D photofinishing software for editing photographs, and bundles Nikon’s ViewNX-Movie Editor for editing videos. Read more

Sony releases 28mm, 35mm, and 90mm macro full-frame primes

04 Mar

Three full-frame prime lenses on Sony’s lens roadmap officially arrived today which, including the 24-240, brings the total number of FE lenses to eleven. The least expensive of the trio is the 28mm F2 lens, which also supports ultra-wide and fisheye adapters. Next is the long-awaited Zeiss 35mm F1.4 ZA, which is Sony’s fastest FE lens to date. Close-up shooters will be interested in the new 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS lens, which uses a Direct Drive SSM mechanism for ultra-precise focusing. More details here.

Ricoh releases inexpensive all-weather AF201FG external flash

Ricoh has announced the AF201FG external flash for Pentax interchangeable lens cameras. The AF201FG is weather-resistant, can tilt down ten degrees and up ninety, and has a  guide number of 20 meters at ISO 100. It also weighs just 141g (5oz). The AF201FG will be available in March for $ 149/£129. Read more

Fujifilm releases XQ2 premium compact

Fujifilm has announced the XQ2 premium compact camera which is the same as the XQ1, save for the addition of the Classic Chrome film simulation mode. As with its predecessor, the XQ2 features a 12 megapixel 2/3″ X-Trans CMOS sensor, 25-100mm equiv. F1.8-4.9 lens, 1080/60p video, and built-in Wi-Fi. The XQ2 also has a customizable control ring around the lens for quickly adjusting your favorite settings. Read more.
