MindShift introduces BackLight 26L Photo Daypack

MindShift Gear has launched its new BackLight 26L Photo Daypack for pre-order, and will begin shipping it next month. The bag features a 26 liter capacity with compartments able to accommodate a 15″ laptop, 10″ tablet, a standard sized DSLR with up to six lenses, a flash, and two large water bottles. Read more

Could the future of photo viewing be virtual reality? Flickr thinks so

This past weekend Flickr demonstrated an early preview of a ‘virtual reality experience’ designed for viewing 360-degree panoramic photos. The demonstration used the Oculus DK 2 headset connected to a computer, and allowed wearers to completely immerse themselves within the panorama. Read more

Offering a 24.2MP CMOS sensor, the D7200 provides a 51-point AF system sensitive to -3EV, an increased buffer depth with 6 fps continuous shooting and 1080 HD video at 60p. How to Process a Landscape Photo in 5 Minutes Using Photoshop

In this ultra fast video tutorial photographer Joshua Cripps walks your through how to process a landscape photo using Photoshop in under five minutes. He talks really fast and works quickly so if you miss anything just watch the video again (he even says that at the end) or pause it so you can follow along.

How did you make out with your own landscape image, could you do it in five minutes? If it takes you a little longer that’s just fine, especially if you’re just learning Photoshop.

Note: everything he does in the video can also be done in Lightroom using the basic sliders, adjustment brush, and graduated filter.

Orangutan photo snags Sony World Photo prize for DPR reader

We first became acquainted with Andrew Suryono’s name when his ‘Orangutan in the Rain’ photo popped up as one of the top submissions to the Sony World Photography awards.
