Happy Holidays

It’s been a fun year at Luminous-Landscape.  The team has expanded with the addition of Kevin and a lot has been accomplished.  All of us at LuLa want to say Thank You for continuing to visit our site.  We also want to extend the best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season.  We hope you find time for family, friends and a bit of relaxation over the coming days.  Of course for many of us that will be taking photographs and enjoying some time at the computer working on images.  No matter how you spend your Holiday, enjoy it.

Luminous-Landscape is working hard on a number of projects for 2015 and we will be sharing these soon.  We are very excited about the direction we are headed and we’re sure you’ll share in that excitement.  Stay tuned.

From . . . Michael Reichmann, Chris Sanderson and Kevin Raber . . . . Enjoy!

Happy New Year 2014 – Year Of The Horse

29 Apr

Happy New Year

I wish everyone had a safe and festive holiday season! I was able to catch up on a lot of work crossing off a lot of things on my “to do” list now that I am getting into the habit of sticking to one.  It can be quite daunting to plan everything you want to achieve in a year before the year has even started, but if there’s one this that I learnt is that it’s better to have guidelines because you never know what life throws at you. I’ve also been reassessing where I am, where I want to be in terms of my career.

So what does this coming year look like for FashionPhotographyBlog.com? Well for starters, I’d like to thank this site for giving me the opportunity to share my experiences. I look forward to contributing to the pool of knowledge shared by Melissa and David. There has been a lot of planning for the year ahead and without revealing too much all at once, we would like to strive to provide a website that is the #1 resource for the fashion photography industry. All will be revealed over timed so I encourage you all to stay tuned.

Are there any resolutions for FashionPhotographyBlog.com? Well, more awesome posts showcasing great content that’s for sure. It’s time to get the engine roaring! What better time to start than in this transition phase between stepping into the New Year and embarking on the start of the new Lunar Year, The Year of the Horse. Traditionally, the new year symbolizes new beginnings whereas the new lunar year represents luck and prosperity, so it is befitting that we kick off the first entry of the year right now in this most auspicious time.

From what I heard from my friends it seemed that 2013 was quite a bumpy year for most people. I was no exception, but I had done my best to cheer them up to look forward to the new year because I say to them that “2014 is where the magic happens”.

I wish you all a hugely successful 2014, full of love, happiness and prosperity!! Stay tuned because we have exciting things to come!

Happy New Year 2014 from dPS

01 Jan

Another year has draw to a close and the clock has ticked over to 2014 on the Australian side of the world. We’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year from all of us at dPS!

By David Yu

If 2013 was kind to you, may you have more of the same.  If it wasn’t your best year ever, don’t look back, just close the door and leap into 2014 ready to tackle it head on. We’ll have more great photography articles, tutorials and reviews for you coming up and we will resume our regular schedule of two articles a day on the 3rd (in two days).

So have a great New Year wherever you are, whatever you decide to do. Me, I’ll be at a fondue with friends tonight (31st in Canada) and tomorrow will help serve 1000 homeless and low income families a hot lunch. I do it every year because it’s puts it all in perspective for me, makes me grateful, and allows me to give back.

In the comments below, share with us at dPS:

  • how will you ring in the New Year (or did you if you’re in Australia or that side of the world)?
  • what will you do to kick off 2014?
  • what part of the world do you live in, and what’s the celebration like there?  Are there fireworks? Parties? Or does it just slip by quietly?

Whatever you do, make it a happy one and we’ll see you in 2014!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy Holidays from dPS!

25 Dec

It’s officially Christmas Day down under in Melbourne, so we would like to wish you all the best this holiday season for you and all your loved ones, from all of us at Digital Photography School!

By Heather Katsoulis

Happy Holidays!

I want to thank you, on behalf of the entire dPS team, for being a loyal reader and fan. May all your Photography Wish List items and dreams be fulfilled. But most of all I wish you times spent with family and close friends, all the love and joy of the season, and all the best as we head into 2014!

However you celebrate, whatever holiday is close to your heart, I hope you create special memories with loved ones. In my family we have chosen not to buy the other adults gifts (just for the kids) and instead focus on spending time together, laughing, reminiscing, playing games and of course eating!

Earlier this week I spent the morning helping handing out “gifts” at a place called Bissell Center (which helps the homeless and low income families survive). On New Year’s Day (as I have for about the last 25 years) I will participate in their annual dinner and help serve over 1000 needy people a hot holiday meal (for many, it is their only meal of the week). This is what sums up the true meaning of the holidays for me. I have so much, and am grateful every day. Christmas to me, means sharing my good fortune with those not so fortunate, and being surrounded with the people most important to me.

What do the holidays mean to you? How do you celebrate?

By Justin Brown

For those of you celebrating Christmas – here’s some of our past tutorials that might come in handy today (some are specifically Christmas related, while others might help you capture different aspects of the celebrations):
