CHINTELLIGENS “Asians doing Finnish Rap”

07 Feb

Chintelligens began as a way to pay tribute to the great country of Finland. Drawing strongly from pop media influences from within the culture, Sir Ender and Conductor Conductor found particular merit with the Finnish hip-hop group Fintelligens; particularly the song entitled “Mikä Boogie”, though nobody can pinpoint the exact reason. It might have been the funky-ass beats, dank rhythm, or straight ill vibe — possibly a combination of all three. Regardless, the music pulsed through the normally mundane activities of country living, and brought a new energy to each day’s discoveries of Finnish culture. Visit us for more info: www.chintelligens.com The original song is by the Finnish group Fintelligens www.youtube.com Musical tribute distributed under Fair Use Copyright for non-commercial purposes only.

Pentax 105mm f/2.8 Super Takumar | Lens Review

07 Feb

This is a test of my Pentax 105 2.8 adapted onto my 550D (T2i). Clips are completely unedited and are all shot on the standard color profile. I acquired this lens, along with a 50/1.4 Asahi Takumar, a couple weeks ago. Generally, I have been pleased with this lens. I prefer using this for photos over video. My main gripe is the long minimum focusing distance, which is 4ft. I find it annoying because I often find myself too close to the subject and have to take steps back to get my subject in focus. Definitely not for macro work. The lens is pretty sharp at all apertures. It seems to be optimum around f/5.6. I like the bokeh; it has the look of more expensive lenses. Thanks for watching, please let me know how I can improve and what lenses you’d like to see next. Song: soundcloud.com The T2i produces the same video as the T3i. (and similar video and FOV with this lens on the 7D, Ti1, 50D, 60D, and various Nikons and other cameras with 1.5x & 1.6x crop factors.)

DIY Underwater Housing for DSLR Camera

07 Feb

This a quick overview of how I built a cheap underwater housing unit to protect my Canon 60D when shooting video underwater.

www.chadsorianophotoblog.com A 1080p video shot with the Canon Rebel T4i/650D paired with the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens at 29.97fps. Edited with Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 and used a modified Canon E-1 Movie Plugin to transcode AppleProRes422. I also used the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS lens for extreme macro closeups in the video. For support, I used the Benro 3580 tripod legs with a Manfrotto 701 HDV video head. For audio capture, I used a Senneheiser MKE400 shotgun microphone. To control incoming light to maintain the proper aperture, shutter and ISO, I used a FADER ND Mark II Variable ND filter. www.chadsorianophotoblog.com

E-Ink Keyboard: Letter Keys Morph into Custom Symbols

07 Feb

e ink custom keyboard

Electronic ink is energy efficient and easy on the eyes, so why not adapt it to the keyboard? It is, after all, one of the few components of everyday technology that still has printed type in a screen-dominated world.

e_inky

electronic ink keyboard concept

Designed by Maxim Mezentsev & Aleksander Suhih the E-inkey keyboard for Pixel Studio (p1x.ru), the concept is simple: e-ink key displays that can shift to gaming keys, shortcuts or program-specific icons smoothly on demand, just like turning the digital page in your favorite e-book reader.

electronic oled color keyboard

There is already a working precursor to this, and it is more than a prototype – the Optimus Maximus keyboard has configuration software for full customization (letters, images, icons, colors), but uses power-sapping and heavy-touch OLED technology (making it harder to go wireless or even push buttons).

eink customizable multitasking keyboard

While this is not yet in production, the specs give some hope that it might make its way to Kickstarter or an equivalent soon – it definitely falls under the “please take my money!” category for tech geeks and design professionals alike.

Just posted: Samsung Galaxy Camera review

07 Feb

leading.jpg

We’ve just posted our review of the Samsung Galaxy Camera on Connect. The Galaxy Camera takes components from Samsung’s WB850F long-zoom compact camera and its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, and combines them in one device. The result of this fusion of technologies is a compact superzoom camera with a 23mm wideangle, 21x zoom lens and pop-up flash that offers the ability to edit images on the go. You can also share images via Wi-Fi or 3G/4G data connectivity and install a plethora of apps from the Google Play Store. Click through to go to the full review.
