I was assigned to revisit the subject of terror again (the first time I had to re-title them Fear and Hope).

I have mixed feelings about the work, less about the final result (though granted it has many flaws) but by the process it to get to this final image. It ended up being a last minuet endeavor. To keep a long story short I let myself, as I keep doing, get dragged down by trying to prefect a concept for the image rather than the image itself. I drew blanks as to how to visualize the things that terrify me and those that I did come up with were vague. Its something I keep doing to myself. In the end I through out the concept all together, kept some visual ideas that had been floating around and set my self the task of making an image that expressed "terror" only from what I could scan or recycle from past projects.

This is what came out. Its always isolation, lack of definition and thus control or sense of self.

Comments and critiques are always appreciated

Connect: Do these images show new 13MP Sony sensor in action?

xperia_z_ip5_oppo5_5.jpeg

A Vietnamese site is sharing what it claims are sample images from Sony’s new Xperia Z smartphone, compared with shots from both the Apple iPhone 5 and the Oppo Find 5, both of which will feature Sony’s new 13-megapixel Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor. Although we can’t vouch for the integrity of the sample shots, if they’re genuine, the comparison provides an interesting look at what the Xperia and Oppo Find 5’s cameras may be capable of. Click through for the full story, and images, on connect.dpreview.com.

Creating your first Meraki network

24 Jan

In this short video I will show you how you can quickly and easily create your first Meraki network. All demonstration screens are shot in real time with no shortening of the sequences. Shot on a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G lens in my living room, this video was put together as a side project as a way of learning more about shooting DSLR video and video editing. Audio is captured on a Zoom H1 Handy Recorder with Audio Technica ATR3350 lavalier microphone. Hopefully this will be the first in a series of short videos that will highlight features of Meraki technology in a quick and easy to understand way.

Epson announces mass production of high-res electronic viewfinder LCD

24 Jan

Epson_HTPS_EVF.png

Epson has said it is starting full production of its high-resolution SVGA LCD panel for use in electronic viewfinder cameras. The 1024 x 768 pixel screen sits alongside the company’s existing 800 x 600 pixel display, as used in the Olympus OM-D and, we suspect, in Fujifilm’s X100 and X-Pro1. The latest panel, unveiled at Photokina, offers the same 2.36m dot resolution as announced in the Fujifilm X100S. It’ll be interesting to see how it compares to the Sony OLED display of the same resolution used in various Sony models and Fujifilm’s X-E1.
