19 Dec

Samsung and Time Out magazine have announced the ‘Share your Now’ contest. Participants can upload images they have captured of New York or London to a dedicated portal on the Time Out website. Each week, five entrants from each city will win a Samsung Galaxy Camera. When the nine-week competition closes on 4th March, Time Out will commission three winners from London, and three from New York, ‘to share their take on their own city’, using their Android OS-based camera. These final images will be featured on the front cover of region-specific Time Out magazines. The winners will also receive a free trip to the other city. A grand winner will be announced after readers vote for their favorite cover photo. The competition is open through 10 February 2013.

Master of Rock-n-Roll Couture! Digital Photo Pro Magazine

My Interview and Work Featured in the
Master’s Special of DPP this Month!

I love Digital Photo Pro Magazine. And I LOVE their title for my story. You can only imagine my happiness when they sent me an email requesting an interview with me to do a write up about myself and my fashion photography for their Master’s Issue. You can read the Full Article Here. First of all, the word “Master” sort of hit me sideways. I don’t consider myself a Master yet, but I was very moved by the compliment. It isn’t every day that a magazine like Digital Photo Pro writes me and tells me that they think I’m a master and would like to do a story about me!

At any rate, enough said. I just want to share the article with you. And if you follow my work, it would be nice to pick up a copy of the magazine. If you have not heard of Digital Photo Pro, it is a great magazine for any photographer, honestly.  They write great articles featuring photographers like Indira Cesarine and David Alan Harvey, who also are in the Master’s Special Edition. they share the latest information on gear and technology as well as monthly profiles on photographers that we all admire. Not to mention, it has great business advice and tips for both photographers starting up their new businesses to people like myself who constantly need to stay in the know on the latest business practices. You can subscribe and save if you’re interested in getting DPP sent to you in the mail.

Enjoy the article!

25 Wonderful Christmas Light Painting Images

19 Dec

Light Harted (Reindeer Light Painting), Hertfordshire

Last week we shared a tutorial and image collection on taking beautiful Christmas Bokeh images which got shared around the web like crazy. As a followup we thought it might be fun to share a collection of a different type of Christmas image – those that include some aspect of Light Painting.

I am Santa Claus

Light Painting is a technique whereby you create spectacular images by moving different types of light through a scene while you take a longer exposure. The results can be quite striking – as you’ll see from the images in this post.

When to use Exposure Compensation. Canon Nikon tips tricks

19 Dec

Exposure Compensation www.elitevideo.com . When do you use it? The answer is, When you are taking a series of photos in a setting that has a lot of darkness around a subject, or a lot of brightness around your subject. If it is too dark or bright around your subject, then every picture you take will be over exposed or under exposed, because the camera does not know what light level to concentrate on. With exposure compensation, You are telling the camera, “Give me a little more or a little less light that you have been in this situation- on every shot.” The best way to determine if you need exposure compensation is to do a test shot in the enviornment that you will be shooting. For example Snow (lots of white), a theater (lots of dark), etc.
