Microsoft Outlook 2010 – Change 15 Minute Default Reminder Time

20 Aug

Configure Outlook 2010 when it reminds you and others about upcoming appointments.

When creating appointments or meetings in Microsoft Outlook 2010, while reminder times can be set on a per-appointment basis, the default is to display a reminder 15 minutes before the actual event is to occur.

You or the attendees may find that 15 minutes is not enough time for a reminder, wanting to allow for time to finish up an e-mail or tweet, take a bathroom break, etc. Alternatively, you might find that 15 minutes is too much time, believing that no time is more productive than the last minute, and wish to provide reminders closer to the event time….

BC3 Assignment #3: Think Big

20 Aug

The subject for assignment #2 was nice and small in size; very manageable. This will not be the case for assignment #3.

In fact, the subject for this assignment will almost certainly be too big to light completely with your small flashes. Read more ยป

[MODIFIED] Mozilla Firefox – Misc – Display Text in the Toolbar for New Users

20 Aug

Make Mozilla Firefox even easier to use for newbies or those with lots of add-ons by labeling toolbar icons. This also displays dedicated “Reload” and “Stop” buttons.

Normally, Mozilla Firefox’s toolbar contains icons that do not contain labels. For example, the arrow pointing left goes to the previous page, and the house goes to the home page.

While these icons are recognizable to frequent web browser users, newbies may not know what each button does. Or, if you have a lot of add-ons installed that place buttons in the toolbar, it may prove difficult to remember what functionality is performed by clicking each button. Thus you can label each button with “Back”, “Forward”, “Home”, etc. This also gives you dedicated “Reload” and “Stop” buttons….

TTV Photos

20 Aug

254322284_4f4b6a7ee5_mI’ve mentioned before that I’m often inspired by this blog and yesterday’s post was a TTV photo, which inspired me to tell you, dear Photodoto readers, how to create TTV photos. Luckily for you it’s very simple, in principle.

TTV stands for “Through the Viewfinder” and to create one of these photos you need two cameras. Basically you set up your digital camera to shoot through the viewfinder of another camera. It sounds simple but requires quite a bit of patience to get it set up correctly. The best advice is to give it a try and practice until you get the hang of it. Also, try placing something dark coloured around the gap between the two lenses to keep out extra light.

Oh, and check out the Through the Viewfinder group on Flickr for some more TTV inspiration.
