Photodoto closing down

16 Aug

I started Photodoto in 2006. In four years, we’ve published nearly 600 articles on a diverse range of topics for beginners to advanced photographers. I’m proud of the work. For myself, and on behalf of all of Photodoto’s contributing writers: thank you for reading and contributing.

When I started Photodoto, my mission was to try to make photography more accessible to everyone. I believe strongly that anyone can be a good photographer and that photography is not as mysterious or difficult as many people think. I hope that I’ve achieved that goal, at least for some of you.

Unfortunately, over the past year, I haven’t had the time to dedicate to Photodoto that I think it or you deserves. I’ve got a lot on my plate. I’ve been forced to prioritize and Photodoto just didn’t make the cut.

Photodoto will not just disappear. There will be no new blog posts. But the content will live on in some form. I intend to reorganize and republish the most popular articles. And all existing links to content here will continue to work.

There are many great photography blogs out there. Here are three in particular that I think have a similar aim as Photodoto and that I think you will enjoy:

See you around. 🙂

The Sincerest Form Of Flattery

Tsk Tsk, turns out there are some engineering flaws in Voltron, specifically in the Blue Lion Robot. Makes me think the builder wasn’t properly licensed. Haggar builds Lotor a new bad-ass Robeast to help exploit the weakness. Watch hundreds of free full-length streaming movies and TV shows on www.crackle.com Want to see some more legends? Leona Lewis album retouched

16 Aug

When I saw the cover for Leona Lewis’s 1st album I was shocked to see a beautiful woman so close up without all the airbrushing/retouching. So I decided to do it, God I hope this gets me a job airbrushing. I only been doing it since, May I think. It is meant to look over the top BTW. feel free to ask any questions

How I take my photos

15 Aug

yes I have a tendency to ramble 🙂 The other thing I forgot to mention (sorry it was late when I recorded this), I DO edit all of my photos. By editing, I mean Adobe Bridge and sometimes Photoshop. I use CS3. I had issues with the “ethics” of this for the LONGEST time and it wasn’t until I took my photography class that I became “ok” with it. My teacher explained that every single photo in existence whether taken through film or digitally has been edited. Photoshop is a digital darkroom, Even in darkrooms, photos are edited, whether they are burned and dodged to make things darker/lighter or the exposure time is messed with etc. I take all of my photos at the largest possible resolution size and when I use my Rebel, I always shoot in RAW. If you take photos at a resolution of 600×800, they’ll be much more difficult to edit than those with a largest size of say over 2000 pixels in width. No one wants to look at acne, as it’s distracting from the overall feel of a photo. So if I have blemishes, I either burn and dodge the dark/light spots or I use the clone stamp, always with photo at 100% or more. I also sometimes burn areas to make them appear darker. The blur tool, I find, is the most overused and improperly used tool in photoshop and when/if used to edit skin (blemishes), all it does is scream that you’ve edited your photo and there’s probably a pimple beneath that blur. If you don’t know how to use photoshop, there are TONS of tutorials here on youtube. Do your

My attempt on photo retouching

15 Aug

I’ve learned SO much after watching Mama’s tutorial and I immediately tried it. It was fun and I practiced a few more times. This is one of the pictures I used. I found it on photo.net, it was distributed to be retouched. I didn’t use Mama’s powder but I did some enhancing myself. Something was wrong with the previous video I uploaded and I deleted it, I hope this one works now.
