127 Film Photography

127 Film Format – “The format was introduced by Kodak in 1912, along with the “Vest Pocket Kodak” folding camera, as a compact alternative to larger portable cameras using 120. The folding “127s” were in fact smaller than most 35 mm cameras today. Madhavi wants Savitri to come over to stay at her home as her delivery is round the corner. She rings her up but as Shyam can’t bear the thought of living alone, he promises to send her after a week. Meanwhile, Govind assigns a professional photographer to click Savitri’s snaps & deliver this precious album at the earliest. But once Savitri receives her album, she shows it to Shyam & is stunned to see his eyes grow moist especially when he glances at the snaps where she’s wearing all her jewellery. Shyam feels miserable as he remembers his mother who was forced to sell off all her jewels, one by one, to ward off their poverty. Yet, the event that left an indelible mark on Shyam’s impressionable mindscape was when his mother borrowed a pair of earrings to wear for a wedding & his father had reacted violently by wrenching them leaving her earlobes bleeding. On that day, he had resolved to buy her a pair of earrings for her from his first salary. However, his mother passed away 2 months before he found a job. Savitri is overwhelmed on hearing this & decides to return this album to Govind.
