I arrived at Kananpaha Veterans Memorial Park where Mr. Christian was already running around with all that typical two year old boy energy… something I encounter on a daily basis. I immediately pulled out my tricks to see which he would go for first… BALLOONS! Only he wanted to let go of the string and watch Mom jump as high as she could to grab it before it floated away in the sky. He thought this game was HILARIOUS! Of course! So off to the slide we went, lasted two minutes before he figured out how to climb like a monkey backwards up the biggest slide in the park. Again, in true boy fashion! Finally, BUBBLES! The winning ticket! Christian loved sitting on the lawn blowing BIG bubbles with his mommy. And finally I got the “shots”.. you know the ones that make you tear. I should have known all the while it’s not my bag of tricks that make the shoot, it’s the connection and interaction between a child and their parent(s). By far the sweetest moments of this whole shoot was just Mom and Christian being exactly that… Mother and Child. And then I wanted to go home to my boys. I LOVE these moments of just playing with your child, and they are so excited to be playing with you they stop “vrooming” the car on the carpet just to come give you a quick kiss… as if to say “Thanks Mommy for stopping everything to play with me!” I LIVE for these moments, and I am confident so does Mr.Christian’s mom.

Anaglyph glasses (red-cyan) required for viewing! 3D test footage filmed during Scifest Joensuu 2010 event (www.scifest.fi) at the Joensuu Areena. Filmed by the 3D workshop, in 720p 30fps. Music by Kevin Macleod (www.incompetech.com). The 3D camera system had two different HD pocket video cameras (Kodak Zi8) side by side. Left and right eye files were edited and mixed in Cinelerra (www.cinelerra.org) on Ubuntu 9.10. This clip shows how important it is to keep the different cameras at the same horizontal level. Achieving that was difficult because of the unstable camera mount in which the cameras were attached to. As a result the two different images are occasinally seen at a different height, ie another image is seen higher than the other. The problem could be solved by using a camera mount which keeps itself at the same position all the time. Another solution, which takes more time, is to adjust everything in the video editor. Another problem is related to the frame rate which should be higher when filming moving object. The Kodak Zi8 cameras also have an option for 720p 60fps which, however, wasn’t used in the footage because editing 30fps footage is faster. Video Rating: 0 / 5
