Video Rating: 5 / 5

My friend and I went on a road trip to Yellowstone. We were in the park for the very first day of the season! I used my HD Flip to take some video and I also used my Nikon D300 for stills and for a timelapse of Old Faithful. We drove through Pony, Ennis, Idaho, West Yellowstone, Yellowstone Park, Gardiner, Paradise Valley, and Bozeman to end up back at home.

Southern China (Guilin – Longsheng – Yangshuo)

07 Dec

This is a video that I made using some of the pictures that I shot during my trip to Southern China (November 2011). I visited Guilin, with its pagodas on the peaks, its nature views and its modern centre. After that I visited Longsheng, a small village located a few km from Guilin where Yao people live and where there are some nice views on rice terraces. At the end of my trip I went to Yangshuo, a touristic town (full of people coming from many parts of China) near the Li river from where it’s possible to do many boat trips or explorations all around, seeing amazing nature views (peaks around the river) and some old little towns. I made my photos with my Samsung Galaxy SII mobile phone, with a Nikon D60 camera and with a Canon Powershot D10 camera. The main places you will see in this video are : Guilin: – Arriving to Guilin (00:05 — 00:08) – Lonely Beauty Peak and Wang Cheng Palace (00:12 — 00:46) – City Center (00:47 — 1:05) – Sun & moon Pagoda (1:06 — 1:08) – City Center by night (1:09 — 1:24) – Sun & Moon Pagoda (1:32 — 2:07) – Fuboshan Peak (2:10 — 2:23) – City Centre (2:24 — 2:37) – Peak and Pagodas (2:38 — 3:07) – Mulong Hu Peak and pagodas (3:08 — 3:26) – Sun & Moon Pagodas by night (3:30 — 3:32) Longsheng: – Ping’ an Village, Rice Terraces, Yao People (3:34 — 5:50) Guilin: -Morning Exercises near the lake(5:55 — 6:00) Yangshuo and surrounding areas: – Fu Li (town, market) (6:04 — 13:27) – Li River (6:34 — 6:45) – Fu Li (6:46 — 7:02) – Yangshuo

DSLR Video Editing for Photographers – Pt. 3

07 Dec

In this Part 3 of my multi-part training series, I’ll showcase some common methods for ‘telling your story’ with motion and sound. Drop music into your timeline, add markers and time images to specific audio events, as well as animation of position, scale, rotation, opacity and more. Here’s how you can begin to (easily) bring your stills to life, alongside your DSLR video. This is Part 3, “Make Your Images Come Alive” Try CS5: bit.ly

Mr Kodi: Trash Thief

07 Dec

As I mention in the video my wife and I have been trying to figure out if one of us leaves the cloest door open in the office, allowing our oldest dog, Kodi, to gain access to the trash can inside to pick out wrappers and trash. So I set the webcam up and we left the house for a little while. Low and behold after 2 minutes he comes in the room, and pushes the door open, and steals trash. He comes back 3 minutes later for more. We adopted Mr. Kodi from the SPCA. he’s a boxer/pit/something mix. He’s 4.5 years old 52 second mark for when he opens the door, and 1 min 55 second mark for when he comes back again. Guilty!!
