No Small Affair

10 Dec

This run-of-the-mill teen romantic comedy’s main attraction is 22-year-old Demi Moore as Laura Victor, an aspiring rock singer. The slightly younger Jon Cryer is Charles Cummings, a dedicated photographer who meets Laura, falls in love, and decides that a dedication to furthering her career might further his own amorous designs. Charles is essentially a loser when it comes to women — and just about anything else except photography. One day Charles captures Laura on film along a San Francisco seashore and is shocked but excited to run into her later while at a North Beach nightclub where she is a performer. Unable to just let her go, he finally convinces her to pose for him, and as a result of that session he comes up with one good photo which he then puts on nearly 200 San Francisco cabs — using up all his savings in the process. The result consists of offers that have nothing to do with singing — until one exception occurs. Another new face in the crowd in this conventional movie is Jennifer Tilly (younger sister of Meg Tilly and Oscar-nominated for her role in Bullets Over Broadway), working in her first film.

Magpie ink cap fungi growing & liquefying timelapse

09 Dec

This time-lapse depicts a woodland floor with a Magpie Ink Cap, Coprinus picacea growing and liquefying. Filmed by Neil Bromhall for www.rightplants4me.co.uk The blackish brown cap is covered with a white veil which cracks apart when growing, leaving scaly white patches. The cap liquefies to allow the mature spores to be exposed to the wind and carried away for dispersal. This was filmed in my studio over a period of three days using Nikon D300 cameras, Ellinchrom studio flash, humidifier and time lapse track Exposure interval 5 minutes Music ‘Middle England’ by Debbie Wiseman filmed by Neil Bromhall

M1 Carbine at 300 Yards

09 Dec

Laser-measured 300 yard target shooting with the .30 M1 carbine, open sights; featuring multiple camera angles with picture-in-picture. The bullet trail will be visible for several shots. This is a 1943 Inland from General Motors, 18″ barrel. Ammo is 110 grain FMJ from Remington, muzzle velocity of 1990 FPS. The velocity drops by nearly 50% at 300 yards. This open-sight shooting exhibition illustrated the accuracy potential (and lack thereof) of the M1 carbine at the extreme range available on the iron sights. This session was on private family property where I shoot on a regular basis. Targets are setup on a hillside that is backed by large tracts of uninhabited private property. Spotting scope is a Nikon 20-60x82mm, #8311. IPSC target (18″ x 24″) used during most of the video is from Challenge Targets. The 12″ plate is from Mike Gibson Targets. All targets are AR500 steel, 3/8″ thick. If you are a fan of the M1 carbine, here are some other videos on the channel: M1 review: www.youtube.com “Unplanned” 200 yard shooting: www.youtube.com 250 yard shooting: www.youtube.com POV shooting: www.youtube.com TWITTER: www.twitter.com/tnoutdoors9 Filmed with two Sony HD AVCHD camcorders; HDR-CX560 recorded at 28 mbps 60p and HDR-CX110 at 24 mbps 30p. Edited using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11, MP4, 30p, 16 mbps.
