Professor Kobre’s Lightscoop in action

22 Oct

Professor Kobre’s lightscoop when used with a pop-up flash on an SLR camera eliminates harsh shadows, uneven light, red eye, washed out foregrounds and makes light look more professional.

Astronomical Adventures in Tenerife – March 2009

22 Oct

A week in Tenerife doing Astronomy in March 2009, represented as a single night. Using a 24″ Dobson for observing and imaging using an 80mm EPO refractor and an unmodded Nikon D300 DSLR. Movie composed using stills from the Nikon. The video starts with the clouds descending with the falling inversion layer as evening approaches, giving crisp, clear skies just right for observing. We watch the sky darken and then see the Zodiacal Light shining brightly below the Pleiades star cluster. The winter constellations are now on display giving some great nebulae and clusters for imaging in my 80mm refractor, or just a camera lens. As Orion sets, the winter Milky Way is too low to observe and we enter the realm of the galaxies. We also spy Omega Cantauri, an enormous globular cluster, which is breathtaking through a large scope, filling the whole field of view. As morning approaches Scorpius rises bringing the Summer Milky Way with it and a host of bright nebulae. All too soon, the Sun rises over the lunar landscape of Tenerife and we see Mt. Teide covered in snow. Six clear nights out of 7, at 2150 meters above sea level, boy was it cold!!! Can’t wait to go again.

Time lapse of the opening day at Safeco Field, seattle mariners. Shot on a nikon D300, 12/24 mm zoom. In HDR.

DC5 Honda Integra Type R Tsukuba Circuit Gran Turismo 5 JDM DC5-R ITR GT5 RHD

22 Oct

www.flickr.com Just a little clip of me having fun at Tsukuba Circuit on GT5. Its a fun track and I hope to visit it one day in person. The DC5-R is a bit quicker then the DC2-R. Car is all stock except for soft, racing tires. My fastest time with the DC5-R was 1:01.215 on the 5th lap. I didn’t bother recording it all as it gets boring watching a video like this after two laps. Not as exciting as it would be on the real track. I was too lazy to redo the recording as you can see its a bit blurry but the replay and footwork clips are fairly crisp. I think I got the hang of FCP and recording in HD. My easy settings within FCP were set differently so now I can upload HD footage… I think. Thanks for watching Mike — JDM RHD DC5 DC5-R Honda Integra Type R Gran Turismo 5 GT5 Tsukuba Circuit Type-R Japan Japanese Cars I ? Vampire Weekend – The Kids don’t stand a chance (Miike Snow Remix)

22 Oct

This video was created using over 10000 images shot one night with my D300. This was shot before Nikon had released any cameras with a video capability. The idea behind it was to have grungy choppy feel much like an old 8mm film video camera, but in HD quality. (an idea adapted from a long time friend as well as an amazing photographer commonly known as Kenn Taylor.) It was mostly just test, but turned out quite well in my opininon. I hope you like it! The bar in the video is called “Zaphod Beeblebrox” located in Ottawa Ontario Canada, music is by Vampire Weekend – The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance (miike snow remix)

In this video, we take a look at one of Nikon’s most popular lenses: the Nikon 24-120mm f/4 VR G. With that focal range it makes a perfect walk-around lens. But is it good glass? Pricing Reference: www.digitalrev.com
