If you’re doing general portraits then 50mm 1.8 lens would be great as it’s very versatile. 85mm 1.8 is a recommended if you’re doing close up headshots in a studio or outdoors and 35mm is great for general photography. It’s most popular for video and street photography.

This hasn’t been colour corrected at all, i wanted to test what natural colours looked like on the D5000 and this is the result. Shot mostly from Empire Bluff and Sleeping Bear Point … both part of the Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore. I was hoping to see hundreds of boats sail by, but only saw a few : \ love the shimmery sparkly water . . . this was also my first time shooting with a 500mm(750 w/crop factor!) and learned 1) use a Heavy Solid tripod 2) turn off stabilization when on tripod, even if you read differently online : \ 3) timelapse’ing boats is tricky and a long lens is now, not the first choice music: Deep Haze, by Kevin MacLeod shot with a D300 sigma 50-500 lens mostly at the long end www.facebook.com www.flickr.com clip date/id: 20120722-ChiMacRace
